Job Description
Psychiatric Physician Assistants have a wide range of responsibilities, which can include:
- Must know how to write SOAP notes
- Strong knowledge of ASAM criteria
- Knowledge of working in ESMR system and google suite applications
- Experience working with impoverished urban community
- Must be able to travel to both office locations
- Must have Suboxone Waiver
- Providing therapeutic interventions to patients in order to help them manage their Mental Health issues.
- Conducting assessments of patients’ physical and Mental Health needs in order to determine treatment plans.
- Providing counseling services to patients, including diagnosing and treating mental illnesses such as depression or anxiety disorders
- Discussing treatment options with patients in order to help them make informed decisions about their care.
- Prescribing medications to patients who need long-term treatment for mental illnesses such as schizophrenia or bipolar disorder.
- Participating in group therapy sessions with patients who have similar issues.
- Performing routine diagnostic tests in order to identify possible causes of mental illness.
- Referring patients to other physicians or Mental Health specialists when appropriate
- Take medical histories, handle crisis response, administer medication, and medication injections, and direct Mental Health services.
- Serve as part of a multidisciplinary treatment team to develop and implement individual and measurable treatment goals and modalities for each patient.
- Develop working relationships with physicians and providers that refer.
- Evaluate complaints of an acute and chronic nature
- Monitors changes in patients with persistent Mental Health
- Initiates and completes all relevant documentation within organizational time frames.
- Provides support, psychotherapy and supportive counseling with patients in regard to psychosocial, environmental and physical well being
- Performs related duties as directed.
Education:
Psychiatric Physician Assistants are required to have a master’s degree from a Physician Assistant program accredited by the Accreditation Commission for Education in Physician Assistants. These programs typically take two years.
- Board certification or eligibility.
- Licensed from an accredited PA School
- Valid and unrestricted license to practice.
- Demonstrated expertise in psychiatric evaluation, diagnosis, and treatment.
- Strong knowledge of psychopharmacology and experience in medication management.
- Proficiency in providing evidence-based psychotherapy interventions.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to establish rapport with patients and collaborate effectively with colleagues.
- Compassionate and empathetic approach to patient care, with a commitment to promoting their well-being and recovery.
- Ability to work collaboratively in a multidisciplinary team setting.
- Strong organizational and time management skills, with the ability to prioritize and manage a diverse caseload.
- Adherence to ethical guidelines and a commitment to maintaining patient confidentiality.
Job Type: Full-time / Part-time / Contract
Salary: $65.00 - $85.00 per hour
