Job description

Job Description

Welcome to BACA, where we are dedicated to providing top-tier, evidence-based, and compassionate mental health services to children, teenagers, and their families. At the heart of our commitment is the provision of Intensive Outpatient Programs (IOPs), designed for those experiencing moderate to severe mental health symptoms requiring a more focused approach than standard outpatient services.

Join Our Team as a Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner

As a Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner, you will be responsible for delivering comprehensive psychiatric care to youth and young adults. This involves assessments, accurate diagnoses, and tailored treatment plans, collaborating closely with a multidisciplinary team. Your responsibilities include providing evidence-based psychotherapy and managing medications as part of our holistic approach. A specialized focus on developmental stages, family dynamics, and cultural considerations is essential. Crisis intervention skills, risk assessments, and cultural competence are emphasized to meet the unique needs of our youth participants in the IOP setting. Collaborating with schools, leveraging technology, and implementing preventive mental health strategies are key components. Additionally, advocating for youth mental health needs and empowering participants in their care decisions are integral aspects of this role within our IOP-focused youth mental health company.

Essential Functions:

  • Clinical Assessment and Diagnosis:

    • Conduct in-depth psychiatric assessments to evaluate the mental health status of patients.

    • Formulate precise psychiatric diagnoses based on comprehensive assessments and collaboration with fellow healthcare professionals.

  • Treatment Planning and Implementation:

    • Deliver personalized and family counseling, offer parent training, and conduct evaluation and management sessions for designated patients. Emphasis is placed on a comprehensive approach, ensuring that your time is not exclusively devoted to prescription-related tasks.

    • Develop and implement individualized treatment plans in collaboration with patients and families.

    • Prescribe and manage psychotropic medications, monitor for potential side effects, and adjust dosages as necessary.

    • Deliver evidence-based psychotherapy interventions to address a spectrum of mental health concerns.

  • Collaborative Care:

    • Work closely with a multidisciplinary team, including psychologists, social workers, and medical professionals, to ensure comprehensive patient care.

    • Consult with physicians and specialists to address physical health concerns impacting mental well-being.

  • Patient Education:

    • Educate patients and families on mental health conditions, treatment options, and medication management.

    • Provide counseling on lifestyle modifications, coping strategies, and preventive measures to promote mental wellness.

  • Documentation and Record Keeping:

    • Maintain accurate electronic health records, documenting patient assessments, diagnoses, and treatment plans.

    • Ensure compliance with regulatory and organizational policies regarding documentation and confidentiality.

  • Continuous Professional Development:

    • Stay abreast of advancements in psychiatric care and evidence-based practices.

    • Engage in ongoing training and professional development activities to enhance clinical skills and knowledge.

Competencies & Requires education/experience:

  • Ability to effectively respond to psychiatric emergencies.

  • Ability to work collaboratively and communicate within interdisciplinary teams.

  • Adhere to ethical and legal standards, ensuring compliance with relevant laws.

  • Compassion and empathy for individuals with mental health challenges.

  • Master's or Doctoral degree in Psychiatric Nursing with a valid Nurse Practitioner license.

  • Board certification as a Psychiatric-Mental Health Nurse Practitioner.

  • Current CA State license as a Nurse Practitioner with prescriptive authority and the psychiatric/mental health Nurse Practitioner qualification.

  • Must have valid DEA Certificate and NPI number
