POSITION SUMMARY

The Provider Relations Representativeis responsible for identifying current and potential referral sources and marketing Arkansas Hospice services to those sources. These referral sources include physicians, case managers, social workers, nurses, hospitals, long term care facilities.

QUALIFICATIONS

Education: Bachelor’s degree in Communications, Marketing, Social Services, or related field preferred; high school diploma/GED plus at least 5 years recent directly related experience may be substituted for degree.

Experience: Minimum of two years previous related work experience preferably in a hospice.

Additional Requirements: Valid Arkansas driver’s license, car insurance, and car required. Must be able to travel daily to various locations.

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES

  1. Contacts referral sources according to marketing plan:
    • Level A Source (frequently refers patients and has highest referral potential; visits weekly)
    • Level B Source (frequently refers patients; visits every two weeks)
    • Level C Source ( occasionally refers patients; visits monthly)
    • Level D Source ( rarely refers patients or does not yet refer patients; visits quarterly)
  2. Identifies potential referral sources and arranges educational visits by Provider Relations staff or team.
  3. Staffs Arkansas Hospice booths at provider meetings.
  4. Provides educational in-services to healthcare providers.
  5. Collaborates with local clinical team to assist with community events and presentations.
  6. Notifies, documents and collaborates with the appropriate staff member(s) and/or clinical leaders regarding any patient care or service issues discussed during visits to referral sources.
  7. Develops relationships with nursing homes, hospitals, healthcare providers, and other referral resources.
  8. Actively solicits new contracts and updates existing contracts with hospitals, nursing homes, and ALF’s in the service area.
  9. Develops market plan for assigned territory and maintains profiles on current and potential referral sources.
  10. Collaborates with local clinical team to address potential service opportunities throughout territory.
  11. Utilizes supplies and monies as budgeted; obtains prior approval from direct supervisor for all expenditures.
  12. Maintains strict confidentiality at all times.
  13. Utilizes and models excellent customer service skills at all times; seeks opportunities to assist patients, families and co-workers; demonstrates teamwork and cooperation.
  14. Accepts direction and follows instructions from supervisor; seeks additional information as needed; works with minimal supervision.
  15. Adheres to all organizational and departmental policies and procedures.
  16. Continually meets organizational standards for attendance and punctuality; notifies supervisor in a timely manner when employee will be absent or late for work.
  17. Attends all required meetings and in-services; seeks opportunities for additional professional development activities as appropriate.
  18. Performs other duties as assigned.

Performs the above listed functions while regularly working with confidential and/or proprietary Arkansas Hospice and patient information, including but not limited to patient medical records, current or former employee information, Arkansas Hospice records, and other information that the employee regularly uses to perform job functions.
