Job description

Prototype Lab Planner
Location: Torrance, CA
Duration: 7 months
Description:
Prototype build planner is responsible to manage build configuration for power electronics prototype product of all types. Help prioritize workflow for the daily build with techs, test, inspection, and engineering.
Coordinate with Techs & inspectors for reworking boards that are failed IPC 610 standard & board level functional test and work with DRE to rework PCBA per DCN and report out build status to all stakeholders.
Responsible to manage build configuration for power electronics prototype product of all types.
Interpret assembly bills of materials to identify missing hardware/components.
Prepare the assembly build planning and track the build status in daily
Record build issue in JIRA, Route Sheet (AQTR) in power Client.
Develop traceability build route sheet using Power Client or JIRA to track build history.
Host daily build status meeting, and the build data to all stakeholders of the progress and prepare progress reports
Report out of incoming part delivery status, material availability and production problems to management
Report out completed units and shipping status to TPMs and other stakeholders
Tracking specific PCBA (Printed Circuit Board Assembly) inventory pedigree through build and release including:
Receiving in PCBAs, record, and assign each board serial number in build tracker inventory.
Create traveler and move the PCBA to inspection and test.
Coordinate with TPM for outsource conformal coating PCBA.
Coordinate with DRE to perform PCBA rework per DCN.
Review Bill of Materials (BOM) from development phase and manage through the product life cycle, including identifying make and buy parts and revision control of parts.
Evaluates custom build configuration to meet per operational system performance requirements, and assure compatibility of all physical, functional and program interfaces.
This is what youll need:
Minimum of 5 years recent relevant hands-on experience
Basic knowledge of low and high voltage safety.
Basic understanding of ESD and clean room requirements per ISO standards.
Familiarity with basic shop fabrication and assembly tools
Strong analytical skills with the ability to work under pressure and very tight timelines.
Proficient with Microsoft office tools such as Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, Project, Visio.
Bachelors degree in mechanical engineering or related field.
Preferred Qualifications:
Excellent verbal and written communication skills and the ability to deal effectively with all company departments and customers.
knowledge of supply chain processes and procedures including manufacturing planning, MRP, KanBan, and Just-in-Time (JIT).
Knowledge of mechanical drawings and Electrical schematics.
Knowledge or experience in product prototype or high-volume production builds and working with technicians/assemblers.
Knowledge or experience in creating work instructions, rework process, and developing production intent processes.
Ability to work independently and manage several challenging projects simultaneously.
Knowledge of GD&T per ASME Y14.5.
Always maintains a positive and proactive attitude.
Knowledge of PCBA (Printed Circuit Board Assembly) to this includes:
Troubleshooting circuit
Inspection of PCBA per IPC 610 standards
Remove and apply conformal coating.
Cut trace, solder components, and add jumper wires per DCN.
BCPA fabricating process from making of bare board to board population.
Technical Skills
Must Have
Bachelors degree in mechanical engineering or related field.
