Job description

Under general supervision of the Manager or other designated professional engineer, this position performs a substantial role in design, preparation of specifications and field engineering related to assigned engineering projects. The incumbent must be competent to carry out, review and analyze complex technical studies and project scopes, along with the ability to develop and review technical specifications, drawings and standards of equipment/projects. The incumbent must be able to work closely with clients and other senior and junior engineers in the office and throughout the organization in the successful delivery of Protection and Controls design engineering work and in the development of additional business with existing and/or new clients.
Essential Functions of Position:

  1. Perform design studies and demonstrate a good working knowledge of substations, Protection and Control, and automation and integration projects.
  2. Ability to comprehend and apply industry standards used to design substations, Protection and Control, and automation and integration projects. In additions, work may require development and review of technical specifications, drawings and standards of equipment and projects.
  3. Ability to prepare written reports which explain the purpose, methodology, data requirements, design criteria and recommendations and observations.
  4. Some participation in client business development.
  5. Keep department manager informed of status of all projects relative to pre-established expectations
  6. Maintains a program of personal study to expand and improve technical and analytical skills.
  7. Ability to work independently and with others while maintaining a high level of initiative expectations.

Other Functions of Position:
  1. Must have excellent written and oral communication skills to effectively communicate within the organization.
  2. Must have good PC skills and experience with Microsoft Word, Excel, Access and Outlook
  3. Perform all other duties as assigned.

Requirements
  1. Shall possess a four year Bachelor or Science or Technology degree in Electrical Engineering or an equivalent amount of experience in the electrical engineering field.

Physical Requirements:
  • Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
