Property Damage Clerk
This unique position will be within a high volume Personal Injury attorney firm. You will assist the attorney and legal assistant in the handling of both first and third party Property Damage claims. Property damages are not a portion of the claim that firms typically charge a commission on but it never fails to be the most important part of the claim to our clients. The client is in a rush for his/her transportation needs and is very stressed at the absence of same. This position is being designed with the expectation that a seasoned expert in Property Damage claims will be able to expedite the process and maximize the settlement amount to the client for their respective Property Damage claim.
Duties in Part:
- Establish location of the client’s vehicle and arrange for inspection of same.
- Establish contact with either 1st party or 3rd party PD adjuster/appraiser and coordinate inspection of the client’s vehicle.
- Assist client when at all possible in the mitigation of damages (i.e. vehicle incurring storage etc.) and inform the insurance carrier as well of the circumstances.
- Review Property Damage appraisal or total loss report from insurance carrier.
- Review for all applicable forms of coverage, i.e. gap coverage, rental loss of use, etc.
- Negotiate final settlement amount with insurance adjuster and present same to attorney/legal assistant.
- On certain cases, prepare a PD demand, we do not need/want to wait on an insurance carrier to set and complete an appraisal of the vehicle when a demand can be completed by us and submitted to them, triggering statutory response times etc.
Background/Experiences/Skills:
- Poses strong working knowledge of insurance Property Damage claims such as an appraiser/adjuster.
- Knowledgeable in auto material damage costs and total loss figures. And how to verify same.
- Ideal candidate should have 2-3 years or more experience as a Property Damage adjuster or appraiser for an insurance carrier.
- Familiar with California DOI fair claims practices and regulations.
- Able to work independently and with minimal supervision.
- Able to work with clients in communicating the particulars for completion of the vehicle inspection, mitigation of damages and assuring that all compensable Property Damages are being claimed.
