Position Summary

The Project/Application Engineer will be working as part of product engineering/project management team on various automotive/medical projects within Liquid Silicone Rubber manufacturing/thermoplastic applications.

The position requires a dynamic, hard-working individual with superior problem-solving, innovative design, excellent communication, and interpersonal skills. Experience in plastic injection molding, design/product development, engineering, part metrology, process engineering. Liquid Silicone Rubber parts manufacturing experience would be an added advantage.

Essential Job Responsibilities

  • The engineer manages the project from the initial design concept through production ensuring project objectives are met.
  • Support business development with Sales by working directly with customer engineering, engineering inputs for initial quotation to customer, working with process, quality, and manufacturing team members to develop and specify the product.
  • Support customer on new product design, CAD data creation, 2D drawings, meeting customer requirements, and internal best practices for product quotes and releases into internal and customer team.
  • Learn and become a subject matter expert to provide exceptional customer support and robust designs in liquid silicone rubber technology and thermoplastic application.
  • Provide customer support for technical challenges related to product and manufacturing.
  • Work on multiple projects simultaneously, communicates project and task status to management and critical project stakeholders, and escalates concerns when appropriate.
  • Support accurate product development records, including creating and supporting APQP documentation, maintaining project timelines, open issue tracker, tracking customer critical project milestones and maintaining all customer and internal engineering documents as required in projects.
  • Work in conjunction with the project team to develop the PPAP/final validation documentation. Review the documents with the customer and update them accordingly.
  • Practice effective team skills by sharing learned knowledge with the group.
  • Staying abreast of relevant new technology and competitive product information.
  • Travel as required to interface with customer engineering bases, tool manufacturing facility for tooling acceptance requirements.
  • Perform any other appropriate duties as required by a Sr Engineering Project Manager in support of business needs.

  • Design and Analysis Assessments: Provide input for departments outside of engineering for process improvements.
  • Special Projects: Assignments pertaining to the daily operations of SIMTEC or unique situations that require engineering support or reporting.
  • Training: Assist with internal and cross-department training.

Working Conditions/Other:

  • Willingness to travel domestically and international for customer/supplier meetings or industry conferences.
  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds.
  • Occasional work with noise and variable temperatures.
