Created in 1993, LAHSA is a joint powers authority of the city and county of Los Angeles. As the lead agency in the HUD-funded Los Angeles Continuum of Care, we coordinate and manage over $800 million annually in federal, state, county, and city funds for programs providing shelter, housing, and services to people experiencing homelessness.
Job SummaryUnder the supervision of the Associate Director of Data Integration, this position oversees ad hoc, short/medium term projects in the areas of program evaluation and the Homeless Management Information System (HMIS).
The Project Manager is responsible for the successful planning, execution, and completion of various projects critical to the ongoing operations and continued development of the Data Analytics Division. To be successful in this position, candidates will bring strong analytic, project management experience, meticulous organization and attention to detail, and a desire to seek out and create effective solutions to challenges that are often ambiguous and nuanced. Preferred candidates will be entrepreneurial, self-starters who bring creativity and curiosity to the problem-solving process. Candidates with a passion for addressing and ending homelessness are strongly preferred.
- Simultaneously manage multiple projects that will typically range from 1-6 months in duration, some, or all of which may be high visibility within and outside of the organization.
- Create and maintain clear project management tools and protocols.
- Define project scope and timeline in collaboration with project stakeholders.
- Maintain updated project plans for all current assignments.
- Collaborate with organizational leadership to build buy-in and commitment of resources for current initiatives.
- Consistently and comprehensively communicate with project stakeholders to ensure shared understanding of critical dates and deliverables.
- Actively manage and clearly communicate expectations of deliverables and timeline.
- Proactively manage and escalate risks throughout the project lifecycle.
- Maintain process and documentation for request, tracking, and approving changes to project scope, deliverables and/or timeline.
- Facilitate meetings or working groups of project participants as needed.
- Excellent project management fundamentals, with a track record of successfully executing high- visibility projects on time and on budget.
- Meticulous organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Familiarity with project management software tools.
- Experience customizing "off the shelf" software to enhance user experience and align with business needs.
- Excellent people skills, specifically a capacity for collaboration and interpersonal relationships; facilitation experience preferred.
- Ability to perform and lead in a team-based project management environment.
- Expert problem solving, prioritization, and decision-making capabilities.
- Skilled juggler, with the ability to manage and meet multiple competing deadlines.
- Clear and effective communicator both orally and in writing; presentation experience preferred.
- Experience with HMIS preferred.
- Knowledge of systems and programs that address and prevent homelessness.
- Intermediate and advanced level of ability with software programs specifically, Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Access, Power Point and Outlook), Microsoft SQL Server).
- Proven professional experience and educational background.
