The Disability Insurance Branch (DIB) is looking a Staff Services Manager I Specialist to join our Workload Optimization Division ("Command Center") Team. The DIB administers the State Disability Insurance program, which includes Disability Insurance, Paid Family Leave, Non-Industrial Disability Insurance for state employees, and voluntary plans. The program covers 18 million workers, and provides financial stability to workers and their families in times of need. We strive to deliver timely benefit payments and quality service to all of our customers.
The Staff Services Manager I Specialist will function as the DIB WFM EDDNext Project Manager and will provide a broad range of document development, technical scheduling, budgeting, planning, monitoring, and analytical activities in the delivery and execution of the assigned department's projects. This includes coordinating, monitoring, and analyzing all phases of a project lifecycle including: Project Initiation; Project Approval; Project Plan(s), Specifications, and After-Action Review.
The Staff Services Manager I Specialist will manage the collaboration of work efforts with the Workload Optimization Division's DI EDDNext Project Team, briefs and advises the Staff Services Manager (SSM) III and supports the Command Center in the successful implementation of all tools implemented during all phases of the EDDNext Project.

Desirable Qualifications In addition to evaluating each candidate's relative ability, as demonstrated by quality and breadth of experience, the following factors will provide the basis for competitively evaluating each candidate:
  • At least 3 years experience communicating with internal and external stakeholders on complex research products, methodology, and/or reports.
  • At least 3 years experience conducting complex data analysis and research.
  • At least 3 years experience summarizing data analysis and writing memos, issue briefs, or reports.
  • At least 1 year providing formal peer review or direction on a project to peer and/or junior staff.
  • Experience in acting as a Project Manager or lead in large organizational efforts/projects.
  • Experience in managing competing priorities and completing tasks in a timely manner.
  • Demonstrated ability to be innovative and ability to apply new ways of thinking, solve problems, create new ideas and develop new approaches to optimize results.
  • Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills with the ability to communicate clearly to influence and drive strategic decisions across the organization.
  • Knowledge of the policies and procedures of the Disability Insurance Branch.

  • Background Investigation Requirement
