About this role:

Due to the company’s consistent growth, WORKS by JD is currently recruiting for 2 Project Managers/Planners to join our team.


The Project Manager/Planner’s objective is to support construction operations through the delivery of services related to job production, job related paper work, coordination of vendor/subcontractor services and client communication. This role is ultimately responsible for overseeing the company's strategic direction, fostering a culture of quality and continuous improvement, managing team dynamics and project progress, ensuring client satisfaction and compliance with safety standards, and handling administrative tasks with professionalism and efficiency. The Project Manager/Planner ensures all project estimates are 100% accurate, and that WORKS by JD’s residential remodeling and construction services meet the company’s quality standards and specifications and can be warranted for 5 years.


Qualifications:

The successful applicant will possess the following qualifications.


A minimum of 5-10 years of experience in construction project management

  • Previous experience as an estimator, architect, engineer, designer, construction manager, Project Manager or similar
  • The talent to continuously maintain a high level of customer service and a strong work ethic.
  • Exceptional communication skills – written, verbal, and presentation.
  • Previous experience using construction management software as well as solid technical skills including database management, Microsoft Office especially Excel, and Word.
  • A thorough understanding of building/remodeling, project estimating, construction terminology, and processes.
  • Exceptional organization and tracking abilities.
  • The ability to work both independently and as a member of a collaborative team.
  • An exceptional level of professionalism at all times.
  • The ability to travel 45 minutes to 1 hour outside of Beverly to various job sites.
  • The willingness to work inside or outside in New England weather throughout the year.
  • This position is an office and field hybrid and will require the physical agility to maneuver in both environments. Managing jobs from the planning stages through the build requires the ability to sit, stand, walk, climb, bend, crouch, and drive throughout the day or for extended periods of time.

Job Responsibilities:

Strategy:

  • Provide input for the company’s Business Vision and promote a culture of quality, continuous improvement, high performance, and professionalism.
  • Develop strategies for improving employee relations.
  • Develop ways to improve production efficiency and profitability, including by continuously enhancing project supervision systems.
  • Assist in designing, implementing, and improving work procedures and systems.
  • Streamline administrative and project delivery procedures.
  • Design, implement, and improve systems to improve communication and cooperation.
  • Contribute to customer loyalty strategies and enhance client’s experiences.
  • Seek out and foster relationships with quality, reliable trade contractors, vendors, and suppliers.

Team Management:

  • Leads the Virtual Project Planning Team including Estimator.
  • Take initiative and provide leadership in job production.
  • Supports Estimator in keeping track of existing PPS and Production Project budgets and Change Orders for invoicing.
  • Resolve operating frustrations by developing appropriate systems.
  • Participate in regular Employee Development Meetings and Performance Reviews.
  • Prioritize employee relationships and those with third parties, including architects, owners, and clients.
  • Assist in scheduling field personnel as needed.
  • Communicate with all team members, including subcontractors and vendors, with professionalism.
  • Thorough and proactive communication will be maintained with all parties at all times.
  • Help assess direct labor staffing needs based on anticipated work volume and support management team in planning for those needs.

Project Management:

  • Assist in customer service, conflict resolution, and other project-related issues.
  • Oversee project progress and quality, billing, and subcontractor management.
  • Oversee project scopes for accuracy and monitor budget and schedule adherence.
  • Ensure customer satisfaction, compliance with project deadlines, and adherence to company standards.
  • Handle project permits and material orders, including specialty material orders.
  • Regularly communicate with team regarding project status and scheduling. Primarily done through weekly scheduled meetings but may decide through other means as needed.
  • Ensure project management system is updated and accurately reflects current project status.
  • Maintain, all job files and plans, including subcontractor and vendor documentation.
  • Assist in the development and implementation of Project Start-Up and Close-Out.
  • Job site will be maintained in a clean and safe condition at all times.

Administration:

  • Handle administrative and customer service duties as directed.
  • Owns creating the Binder for each Job. Binder must match 100% what is within BT and clear when job starts.
  • Owns managing and facilitating BT set up and daily facilitation. Daily facilitating is partnering with the Field Team to ensure and hold accountable the required updates ie logs, pictures are in place for Clients.
  • Maintain updated contact databases for streamlined communication.
  • Address billing questions promptly and firmly.
  • Track time for each job location and task.
  • Generate Change Orders and ensure they are signed by relevant parties, including the customer; file electronically and manually.
  • Communicate Change Orders to accounting and update project management system accordingly.
  • Oversee completion, compliance, and submission of documentation, including daily logs, time cards, memos, receipts, contracts, subcontracts and Change Orders.

Safety and Standards Compliance:

  • Ensure proper safety procedures in the field.
  • Check that work is in accordance with contract documents and inspection reports.
  • Report and address safety issues promptly.
  • Conduct regular safety training.
  • Schedule, coordinate, and conduct all site safety activities associated with the construction process.
  • Oversee adherence to all OSHA & EPA regulations for RRP [Renovate Repair, and Painting Program] for anything built prior to 1978.

Other Responsibilities:

  • Approach engagements with enthusiasm and professionalism.
  • Follow up in a timely manner and notify supervisor of issues.
  • Build long-term relationships with employees and clients; treat them with dignity and respect.
  • Emphasize accuracy, thoroughness, and attention to detail. Meet deadlines and maintain a positive proactive attitude.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

  • At least two business references
  • A valid driver’s license and reliable transportation.
  • Be willing to submit to a background check to include a current review of the applicant’s driving record.
  • Be able to provide two documents, upon hire, showing proof of eligibility to be hired in the United States.
