COMPANY OVERVIEW
NextFlex, America's Flexible Hybrid Electronics Manufacturing Innovation Institute, is a public-private collaboration with the mission of advancing the capabilities of U.S. manufacturing in the field of Flexible Hybrid Electronics (FHE) and designed to facilitate the development of enabling manufacturing technologies and knowledge sharing with institute members and the U.S. Government.
The institute is a not-for-profit entity supported by industry, academia, and the U.S. Government. Our work enables the next generation electronics for medical, wearable, asset monitoring, structural health monitoring, soft robotics, integrated array antennas, automotive, and agricultural technology applications.
Complementing NextFlex's focus on developing and commercializing emerging technologies, NextFlex's Education and Workforce Development (EWD) department is creating the next-generation STEM workforce. In support of our education and Workforce Development goals, NextFlex develops and operates a portfolio of learning programs designed to be adopted by various stakeholders (higher education, non-profit, and K-12 entities) across the country with the goal of attracting and training the future advanced manufacturing workforce.

POSITION SUMMARY
The NextFlex Education and Workforce Development (EWD) department is looking for an experienced Project Manager to join our team. This part-time position (up to 30 hours per week) reports to the Deputy Director of Education & Workforce Development. This individual is responsible for the direction, coordination, implementation, executive, control and completion of multiple workforce grants and projects, aligned with NextFlex policy and procedures, and OSD/ManTech strategic objectives. Workforce projects at NextFlex encompass a diverse set of stakeholders and a complex set of deliverables; we are seeking someone who can successfully navigate both. The incumbent must have exceptionally strong oral and written communication skills and have demonstrated success in prioritizing projects and competing deadlines.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES

The essential functions include, but are not limited to the following:

  • Determine and define project scope and objectives.
  • Translates Government Statement Of Objectives (SOO) into Detailed Research Proposal (DRP)/Statement Of Work (SOW) for NextFlex.
  • Anticipate resources needed to reach objectives and manage resources in an effective and efficient manner.
  • Work closely with the finance department to prepare budget based on scope of work and resource requirements.
  • Track and monitor EWD project costs using NextFlex Project Mgt system in order to meet project deliverables and budgets.
  • Develop and manage a detailed project schedule and work plan.
  • Provide project updates on a consistent basis to internal (NextFlex) and external (USG, performers) stakeholders about strategy, adjustments, and progress.
  • Manage contracts with vendors and suppliers by assigning tasks and communicating expected deliverables, as needed.
  • Utilize industry best practices, techniques, and standards throughout entire project execution.
  • Monitor project progress and make adjustments as needed in consultation with supervisor.
  • Measure project performance to identify areas for improvement.
  • Provide oversight to sub awardees on proposals, reporting, and technical assistance related to projects, as needed.
  • Serve as a liaison between OSD/ManTech, NextFlex, and performers on contract.
  • Perform all other duties that may be assigned.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS (KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES)
  • Bachelor's degree.
  • 3-5 years of project management and related experience.
  • Proven ability to solve problems creatively.
  • Strong working knowledge of project management software tools, methodologies, and best practices.
  • Excellent analytical and writing skills.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and extremely resourceful.
  • Proven ability to complete projects according to outlined scope, budget, and timeline.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS (KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES)
  • Project Management Professional (PMP) certification preferred.
  • 5+ years of project management and related experience.
  • Experience seeing projects through the full life cycle.
  • 2-3 years' experience with workforce and educational programs and proposals.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS AND WORK ENVIRONMENT

On-site office work will be conducted using general office equipment, includes substantial sitting and is performed primarily in a typical indoor office setting with cubicles, offices, and conference rooms.
Low to moderate noise and interruptions typical of an office setting, such as peer conversations, computers, printers, and phones.
This is a hybrid-role that requires the incumbent to work at the NextFlex office in San Jose a minimum of 2 days a week and may have the option to work remotely the remainder of the time. Total weekly hours will vary depending on workload (up to 30 hours per week).
TRAVEL REQUIREMENTS
Travel to and from office; other travel for meetings and conferences estimated at 25% or less.
