BerQ RNG develops, owns, and operates renewable natural gas (“RNG”) projects from waste sources such as agricultural waste, landfill gas and wastewater treatment gas throughout North America and sells RNG to various end users interested in a zero-carbon emission fuel source. About the Job
The Project Manager is a key role at BerQ RNG and will have responsibility for project success factors including technical and financial performance as measured by internal rates of return. The successful candidate will join a collaborative and entrepreneurial team and will be exposed to all aspects of the project development life cycle. As the Project Manager, you will provide timely support for technical development for renewable natural gas (RNG) opportunities. You will work with Project Developers, Managers, Construction, Operations, and 3rd party firms to plan and coordinate projects to industry and company standards.
We are looking for a dynamic team member with a strong background in project execution, has a positive attitude, excellent interpersonal skills, and strong analytical skills and one who is proficient working on multiple projects simultaneously, and is equally comfortable working independently and in a collaborative team setting.
The position is remote, however preference would be given to candidates who reside in the Pittsburgh, PA area.
Responsibilities:
•Evaluating prospective project host sites, performing site analysis, and identifying solutions to achieve an efficient configuration for systems to produce biogas and upgraded RNG.
•Evaluating existing processes and waste management practices to quantify emissions and carbon intensities.
•Identifying technical requirements and performing engineering analysis to assess and characterize feed stocks to calculate energy and mass balances for biogas production and raw gas upgrading to pipeline quality RNG.
•Ascertaining regulatory approval, permitting requirements, and preparing initial assessments.
•Preparing initial estimates of project costs for site development, process, mechanical, electrical, instrumentation, and pipeline interconnections.
•Preparing engineering and cost benefit analysis reports and presentations and communicating the insights of these reports to senior management.
•Be the owner of the project specific financial models and the internal rate of return, helping with optimizing the models and making diverse calculations, like sensitivities, comparisons, carbon intensity scores and other calculations. As well as analyzing how to optimize project capital and operating expenses.
•Preparing and drafting project proposals for new development opportunities.
•Preparing incentive and grant applications to secure incremental project funding for the overall capital stack.
•Analyzing and recommending improvements to project performance.
Qualifications:
•5 years of experience in energy project development in a similar capacity
•A bachelor’s degree in either mechanical, chemical, petroleum, civil, environmental, energy or agricultural engineering.
•Experience with renewable energy project development, with preferred experience with anaerobic digester, landfill methane or biomass.
•Experience in project execution process and experience in different FEL stages.
•Experience with energy project financial models, project feasibility and cost analysis.
•Understanding of energy markets, and regulatory issues; experience in environmental credits, and carbon intensity modeling is preferred.
•Proficient computer skills including Microsoft Outlook, Word, & Excel, and PowerPoint, which will be necessary for the creation of both visually and verbally engaging reports and presentations for senior management and collaborating personnel.
•Strong research, analytical modeling, and technical skills.
•Strong verbal, written, communication and organization skills in drafting analyses reports for senior management, which must be clear, comprehensive, exhaustive, and easy-to-understand to facilitate appropriate decision-making in sensitive matters.
•Ability to communicate, interact positively and effectively in a team environment.
•Work comfortably in a group/cross-functional setting, have excellent problem-solving skills, and have an ability to remain calm in the face of uncertainty, and deadlines.
•Possess a valid Drivers' License.
•Able to travel to sites on an as needed basis.
