Washtenaw County Road Commission (WCRC) is seeking qualified applicants for the position of Project Manager. As a Project Manager for WCRC you would serve as a Project Manager for the design and construction of safe and efficient road, bridge and drainage projects. This professional staff position has the responsibility for planning and managing projects and will include both administrative and technical oversight. The position must exercise independent professional judgment in resolving problems within project goals, objectives, and budget.

Schedule
- Normal schedule: Monday through Friday, 7 a.m. to 3:30 p.m.
- Summer schedule: Option to work 4/10 or 5/8 work schedule.
- Telecommuting, subject to WCRC's Telecommuting Policy, is an option for this position.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES
- Designs and oversees the construction of road, bridge and drainage projects in accordance with WCRC, MDOT, MMUTCD and AASHTO guidelines, procedures, regulations and specifications.
- Serves as Project Manager on design and construction projects.
- Assists in the collection, correlation, and analysis of data regarding road, bridge, and drainage projects. Performs field reviews and makes recommendations.
- Establishes project schedules and monitors project progress and budget.
- Prepares and maintains reports, records, permits and documentation to satisfy project and WCRC requirements.
- Assists in the review of designs proposed by others including but not limited to shop drawings, WCRC permit applications and public road development.
- Operate s AutoCAD and other design and engineering software.
- Assists in the development of asset management prioritization of project planning for the Transportation Improvement Program (TIP), WCRC Asset Management Plan, and WCRC budget.
- Oversees soil borings performed by consultants and assists in analyzing and interpreting laboratory and field data from investigations.
- Schedules and oversees material testing for construction projects.
- Assists in research and coordinates necessary legal documentation for project right-of-way needs.
- Prepares various special provisions or details for a project.
- Coordinates all necessary utility relocation including requesting utility maps, identifying conflicts, and facilitating the timely relocation prior to the WCRC project.
- Reviews project bids and makes recommendations.
- Serves as field inspector, as needed.
- Represents WCRC at public meetings to engage with communities to seek input and feedback.
- Meets with local officials to present project designs.
- Meets with design & construction, traffic & safety, permits and operations staff to determine pertinent information required for project plans.
- Assigns tasks to technicians and/or intern students while checking progress and correcting, as necessary.
- Responds to citizen questions and complaints.
REQUIREMENTS
- Possession of a Bachelor of Science degree in civil engineering, construction management, land surveying, or related degree.
- State of Michigan Professional Engineer License preferred.
