Performs Project Management Specialist work for Department projects. Work includes coordinating the development, implementation, maintenance, and support of the Critical Path Method (CPM) for Department projects, and providing support for resource leveling, priority development, project analysis, reporting, and training. Works directly with the project manager to help define the project's goals and objectives. Work requires extensive contact with department staff, governmental agencies, and private entities. Employees at this level perform work independently on assignments; however, all unusual issues are referred to the supervisor.
Essential Duties:
- Ensures proper schedule controls are appropriately implemented and maintained.
- Monitors and reports on major milestones for the program portfolio.
- Monitors and reviews the work of others to ensure project plans and schedules include the entire scope of work, management requirements, schedule hierarchy, division of responsibility, schedule review and approval requirements.
- Plans, develops and maintains detailed project schedules and facilitates on-time completion of projects with the optimal level of resources available.
- Coordinates with others to develop, monitor and update integrated project plans and schedules to ensure projects are executed in the most efficient manner possible.
- Provides general support to the project manager and project team, as needed.
- Performs other job responsibilities as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications:
Education: Bachelor's degree in a related discipline. Relevant work experience may be substituted for degree on a year per year basis. Substitutions for Minimum Qualifications
Experience: 1 year Project Management or development, construction/engineering support, or related experience. (Experience can be satisfied by fulltime or prorated parttime equivalent). Related graduate level education may be substituted for experience on a year per year basis.
Licenses and Certifications: Valid driver's license. This position requires driving a state vehicle.

Physical Requirements and Working Conditions:
- Light work: Lift up to 20 lbs at a time and frequently lift or carry objects up to 10 lbs
