Malace|HR is seeking a full time Project Lead HVAC Technician to work mobile in the Decatur, AL area. The role would be primarily 1st shift and pay between $35-40 per hour, based on experience. The role is extremely customer centric focused. Qualified Candidates will be both strong with HVAC systems and Leading a small team. This will be a 'hand-on' position.

Ideal candidates experienced in commercial and industrial environments.

Primary Duties:

  • Performs operations, repairs, and maintenance of all HVAC equipment and any systems that deal with heating ventilation and air conditioning to include the following critical systems: chillers, air handling units, cooling towers, heat exchanges, pumps, valves, and VAV boxes and other mechanical HVAC systems.
  • Perform all work using the proper safety equipment and in a safe and efficient manner.
  • Respond to a wide range of mechanical and electrical problems and troubleshoot and repair, solid experience with laser alignment is also strongly desired.
  • Document problems encountered and communicate these through electronic work order systems, electronic mail and voice systems.
  • Operates systems in a safe and efficient manner in accordance with government regulatory compliance and standard operating procedures.
  • Performs predictive, planned, preventative and reactive maintenance as well as conducting equipment rounds and service requests as directed. Performs maintenance in accordance with the CMMS plans. Assist with the development and improvement of preventative maintenance programs, schedules, work instructions, SOP's and operational procedures.
  • Works to improve the preventative maintenance program.
  • Ability to perform visual and operational inspection of associated equipment and interprets specifications, blueprints and job standards to perform assigned duties.
  • Recommends measures to improve equipment performance and suggests changes in working conditions and use of equipment to increase efficiency of department, shop, or work crew.
  • Provide general labor services throughout all areas maintained by the Facilities department including cleaning and organization of designated work areas.
  • Successfully complete training and demonstrate an ability to perform equipment monitoring and operational checks on utility equipment.
  • Complies with departmental policy for the safe storage, usage, and disposal of hazardous materials.
  • Maintains all codes, laws, and regulations through the Clint's compliance program. Maintains a clean and safe workplace.
  • Interact will with others in a team environment including Maintenance, Engineering team members as well as other internal / external customers.
  • Team player with the desire to foster teamwork to help create a positive working environment.
  • Be able to work independently and follow escalation policy if needed.
  • Actively participates in, technical and safety training programs.
  • Performs additional duties as directed.

Job Requirements

  • Demonstrating the proper use and care of tools and instruments.
  • Must be able to read and understand mechanical blue prints and electrical schematics.
  • Have experience with building/system control systems.
  • Have experience with boilers and their associated steam delivery systems along with the automation controls that drive them.
  • Have knowledge of air compressors, air dyers, reverse osmosis units, water distilling units, clean steam generators and the ability to perform maintenance from written procedures (in a GMP environment-nice to have)
  • EPA Universal 608 and valid drivers license required.

Knowledge and Skills

  • Have knowledge of the basic PC skills along with common applications associated with interoffice communication.
  • Have working knowledge of PLCs, SCADA, HMI interfaces and other automated devices.
  • Experience in oral and written communications in a concise and timely manner.

Work Environment

  • Work with hazardous materials and chemicals.
  • Wear air purifying respirator and wear necessary hearing protection.
  • Work alternative shifts that could include graveyard shifts, weekends, holidays.
  • Work overtime when necessary and work varying shifts, including on-call program.
  • Lift up to 50 lbs, climb ladders, work at heights to perform job functions as needed.
  • Crawl, kneel and stoop and work in small spaces.

Education / Experience

  • Minimum of a high school diploma and trade school or apprentice program.
  • 5+ years of experience in all aspects of HVAC systems, building engineering with a strong background in technical aspects of machinery, plumbing, electrical, equipment repair and maintenance.
  • Electrical and/or Mechanical licenses preferred.
  • Must possess and maintain a valid state driver's license.
  • Previous GMP environment experience is preferred.
  • Have working knowledge of CMMS systems is preferred.
  • Good interpersonal skills, ability to communicate well in both oral and written reports.
