Job Description

Are you an Interior Designer who flourishes when part of a cohesive team where collaboration and ideas flow freely, professional development is prioritized, and opportunity exists at all levels? IF you want to work for a firm that's taking concrete steps toward Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion in the workplace, we’re looking for an experienced Project Interior Designer to join our Interiors team in our Irvine office.

We offer a robust bonus plan; health benefits; flexible hours including work-from-home and alternating Fridays off; competitive paid time off; and a 401(k) matching program!

An ideal candidate is capable of providing project oversight over large, complex, or multiple projects. This individual should be capable of developing solutions for complex design problems, including code compliance and agency interface. Sound like you?

As the Project Interior Designer, you will…

  • Oversee the team's production and coordination of construction documents, including consultant coordination, and manage the client's goals, budget, and schedule.
  • Develop designs with an understanding of the impact of building codes, agency, and jurisdictional requirements, and provide training to less experienced staff.
  • Maintain the budget and schedule throughout the construction administration phase.
  • Oversee and coordinate project activities with clients, consultants, contractors, and staff.
  • Oversee furniture selection and specifications, ensuring compliance with client standards and code requirements, and provide training to others.
  • Participate in all phases of the design and project documentation process, and be able to manage a variety of projects simultaneously.
  • Demonstrate consistent time management skills, complete tasks accurately and on schedule, and mentor less experienced staff in time management.
  • Assist project leaders in the preparation of project management plans and adhere to these plans.
  • Acquire work through the development of client trust, relationships, and a reputation for consistent project management.
  • Demonstrate strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and a collaborative approach. Coache less experienced staff in organizational skills.
  • Ensure adherence to The Lionakis Way standards for design, quality control, and production related to project management, and contribute to further development of these standards.
  • Advise project leaders on client and consultant requested changes to the scope of work, determine the impact on the project budget and schedule, and excel in scope management from proposal through closeout.
  • Review and evaluate documents for accuracy with internal teams and external consultants in preparation for formal Quality Assurance/Quality Control (QA/QC).
  • Delegate tasks to Interior Designers and provide coaching.
  • Collaborate with project leaders to develop action plans related to project issues.
  • Assist with the development of and adherence to work plans, assist the Principal in Charge (PIC) with fee development, and monitor project financial status related to the scope.
  • Participate in proposal content development.
  • Participate in weekly studio staffing meetings to effectively meet staffing needs and deadlines.

Studies have shown that underrepresented individuals like women; LGBTQIA+; and BIPOC, among others, are less likely to apply for jobs unless they believe they meet every single one of the qualifications in a job description or posting. Because we are committed to building a diverse and inclusive organization, we understand the best candidate may come from a non-traditional background to our field of work. We strongly encourage you to apply, even if you don't believe you meet every one of the qualifications described above. Diversity makes us better.
