Northrop Grumman Aeronautics Systems has an opening for a Project Engineer/Principal Project Engineer to join our team of qualified, diverse individuals. This position will be located in Rancho Bernardo, CA. Hybrid capability is offered.
**This position may be filled by either a Project Engineer level or a Principal Project Engineer level based on the qualifications listed.
Project Engineer provides engineering leadership, analysis, and execution support for the development of innovative systems. Focus is on change and technical integration of complex issues as well as how our solutions affect our program costs and schedules.
Essential Functions:
- Leads the day-to-day efforts of one or more technical projects under Program Management direction, optimizing processes and efficiencies to complete projects within budget and schedule constraints.
- Oversees/manages the operational aspects of one or more assigned projects; serves as the liaison between project/program management, engineering teams, business management support teams, and customers.
- Develops comprehensive project plans for new projects.
- Reviews, analyzes, manages, and prepares documents and data for assigned projects; relevant areas include: budget, schedule, and status reporting; documents/data creation includes, but is not limited to: PowerPoint slides, meeting agendas, detailed/accurate, meeting minutes, reports, etc.
- Acts as the primary point of contact for one or more technical projects or studies, providing guidance to the team on development, performance, and productivity.
- Proactively assesses/identifies project issues and develops solutions/resolution actions to meet schedule, productivity, quality, and customer-aligned goals and objectives.
- Monitors status of projects and budgets; manages schedules and prepares timely and accurate status reports.
- Performs CAM duties; understands variance analysis on cost and schedule reports.
- Manages, and utilizes MS Project, Integrated Master Schedules (IMS); assertively promotes adherence to each project's IMS.
- Assesses project issues and works with appropriate parties to develop resolutions to meet productivity, quality, and client-satisfaction goals and objectives.
- Develops mechanisms and processes for monitoring project progress, intervention and problem-solving actions for IPTs/REs, project managers, line managers, and customers.

Basic Qualifications:
Project Engineer (T02):
- Bachelor of Science Degree in Electronics Engineering with 2 Years with Bachelors in Science; 0 Years with Masters; 0 Years with PhD.
- Active in-scope DoD Secret clearance is required
- Experience working within an Integrated Product Team (IPT)
- Experience working on engineering projects (SW, HW, Test, etc.)
Basic Qualifications:
Principal Project Engineer (T03):
- Bachelor of Science Degree in Electronics Engineering with 5 Years with Bachelors in Science; 3 Years with Masters; 0 Years with PhD.
- Active in-scope DoD Secret clearance is required
- Experience working within an Integrated Product Team (IPT)
- Experience working on engineering projects (SW, HW, Test, etc.)
Preferred Qualifications:
- Highly experienced using Microsoft (MS) Office products to include Word, PowerPoint, Excel, Access, and Project
- Experience managing risk to include, but not limited to, development/identification of risks, development/management of mitigation actions.
- Experience with Control Account Management/Earned Value Management (CAM/EVM)
Salary Range: $87,200.00 - $130,800.00Salary Range 2: $107,300.00 - $160,900.00
The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate's experience, education, skills and current market conditions.
Employees may be eligible for a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
