General Overview:
A Project Engineer is responsible for assisting the project team with project management and contract administration. A Project Engineer in on the project manager career path and is considered a project manager in training with a good understanding of construction means and methods and the ability to prepare, coordinate and monitor the documentation required for the implementation, execution and successful completion of the project.
Duties:
- Active participation and execution of Quiring’s Safety Program to maintain a healthy and injury-free work environment.
- Become familiar with the terms and conditions of the prime contract and sub-contracts.
- Become familiar with management objectives and strategic planning with respect to the project.
- Coordinates and confirms trade buyout with the Project Manager.
- Reviews and drafts subcontract scopes, purchase orders, sales contracts, and similar purchase agreements as required for final approval by the Project Manager.
- Assist in the processing of subcontractor payments.
- Reviews and processes project submittals and shop drawings for conformance with the project plans and specifications.
- Assists with preparation of prime contract and subcontract change orders in conjunction with the project team.
- Issues subcontractor change orders as required for the project, and enters such change orders into job cost system.
- Reports on Quality Control and Quality Assurance.
- Assists in developing Daily Reports in conjunction with the Superintendent.
- Assists in the review of RFI’s for accuracy and compliance prior to issuance to the Design Team and Owner.
- Processes all RFI responses and posts to plans accordingly.
- Assists the Project Manager and Superintendent with master project schedule updates.
- Assist the Superintendent in the development and distribution of the three week “look ahead” schedules.
- Assists the Superintendent with correspondence or other follow-up.
- Assists with SWPPP and Air Quality Control documents.
- Maintain computer data and files in an accurate and orderly manner.
- Monitors as-built drawing progress.
- Supports administrative closeout of project; coordinates closeout requirements with Project Team, archives project files upon completion.
- Participation in training and company meetings to facilitate individual and company growth.

Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, Business or related field preferred.
- Excellent listening skills and strong communication skills.
- A strong work ethic and a “can do” attitude.
- Ability to create and support team morale.
- Good time management skills.
- Ability to identify and resolve complex issues.
- Proficient computer skills in Microsoft Office Suite, Project Management Software (Vista or similar), scheduling software (Microsoft Project, Primavera, or similar), and BIM Software (AutoCAD, Revit, Navisworks, or similar).
- Must possess valid California driver’s license.
