GDS Associates, Inc. has an exciting and challenging opportunity for a Project Engineer - NERC Compliancein the Transmission Services Department. This position is based out of the Marietta (Atlanta), GA office. The primary responsibilities and required skills are listed below.
Responsibilities
- Responsible for one or more projects related to NERC compliance for both Critical Infrastructure Protection (CIP) and Operations and Planning (O&P) Standards.
- Develops and executes project schedules, project tasks, and maintains working relationships.
- Assist clients with preparation for audits, self-certifications and spot checks.
- Applies project management methodologies and techniques to report project status and quality metrics.
- Compliance Program Guidance and Oversight - Responsible for meeting critical NERC/CIP/O&P reporting deadlines.
- The NERC ComplianceProject Engineer evaluates the client's impact of new and revised NERC standards and provides guidance and oversight for the implementation of these new and revised standards.
- Developing cyber security and O&P policies and procedures including facility ratings, protection system maintenance programs, information protection programs, electronic access management procedures, incident response and recovery plans, etc.
- Developing NERC and cyber security related training programs and exercises.
- Assist with development of general NERC Compliance Programs.
- Bachelor's degree, in Engineering or a related technical discipline. Minimum of five years of related experience as a project team member, and experience with computer systems networks and NERC Compliance Program administration.
- Demonstrated in-depth, technical understanding of various NERC and Regional Reliability Standards and regulatory organizations that create those compliance standards to include FERC, NERC, Regional Entities.
- Ability to produce technically sound and clear policies, procedures, and processes related to NERC Reliability Standards.
- Demonstrated in-depth knowledge of at least one key business area(s) covered by NERC Standards such as cyber security, physical security, and/or network architecture for CIP and real-time operations, planning, transmission, distribution, generation facilities, and/or system protection.
- Ability to prioritize, schedule, organize, focus on, and complete work and multi-task and effectively manage time in a cross-functional environment.
- Ability to maintain positive and productive working relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
- Strong analytical, communication, teamwork and interpersonal skills, ability to provide technical support to others in the Firm.
- Must have demonstrated attention to detail skill sets, be results oriented and goal or be able to work concurrently with multiple deadlines and deliverables.
- Must have excellent written and oral communication skills.
- Expert knowledge of MS Excel, MS Office, MS PPT, MS Visio, Adobe Acrobat Pro.
- Domestic air and automobile travel: up to 20%.
