Job Description
The Project MEP Engineer’s position establishes the fundamental principles for an individual’s growth and success within McCarthy. On a daily basis you will be responsible for the coordination between McCarthy employees, owners, subcontractors, architects, and engineers. This position is the initial step in developing an employee’s managerial and communication skills.
Key Responsibilities
· The Project MEP Engineer will assist on-site Project MEP Managers and Superintendents in managing the construction projects, focusing specifically on mechanical, plumbing, electrical, controls and low-voltage systems.
· MEP PE’s will work in conjunction with other Field Staff to ensure quality and timeliness of project construction and completion.
· General Contract and Subcontract administration
· Monitor and document jobsite safety and accident prevention
· Construction Scheduling
· Material & Equipment – procurement and expediting
· Mechanical, electrical and piping systems coordination
· Shop drawing and submittal review and coordination
· Project cost review, reporting, updating and accounting
· Review of subcontractor applications for payment
· Participation in and documentation of project coordination meetings
· Supervision and coordination of subcontractors’ field installations
· Review and negotiate change proposal pricing from subcontractors
· Prepare change proposal pricing for self-performed work
· Change order documentation and associated cost reporting and maintenance
· Research and suggest options on construction means, methods and equipment
· Maintenance of As-Built plans
· Quality control
· Project Closeout
· Implement all applicable Safety Programs and EEO/Affirmative Action Programs on the Project.
Qualifications
· Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Construction Management, Civil Engineering, or related engineering degree
· Construction internship or other related construction work experience highly preferred
· General knowledge of construction principles/practices required.
· Must be Geographically mobile and able to relocate within a region
· Strong work ethic and desire to work in a team environment
For Southern California locations only, the salary for this position is: $88,000. This does not include possible bonus and other benefits which can impact total compensation. Compensation offered may vary based on work location, experience, qualifications, specialty, training, and market and business considerations, among other factors.
