The essential duties and responsibilities of the Project Engineer Intern consist of, but are not limited to, the following. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions:
1. Operations Support
- Assist with the execution and support of KHS&S projects.
- Assist Project Manager and Field Leadership (Foremen, Superintendents) in coordinating project activities to ensure project quality, budget, and schedule standards are met.
- Assist in the development and maintenance of construction project schedules.
- Additional duties will be identified with the assistance of your project team, manager, and internship coach
2. Industry-Related Development
- Learn about how we do business by shadowing, interviewing, and/or attending training with field and project operations, depending on project availability and timeline, you may also receive exposure to additional departments, including:
- Field Operations
- Project Operations
- Estimating
- Construction Design
- Safety/Risk
- Lean Construction
- Other departments as assigned
- Participate in weekly intern development meetings to apply Lean in your internship.
3. Other Duties
- Attend seminars/educational training programs as required.
- Perform any other related or unrelated, unassigned, unspecified duty that may be needed from time to time.
Requirements
Education: High School diploma. Some college preferred.
Experience: No experience required. Prior coursework, knowledge, experience, or interest in related subject matter preferred.
Skills: High attention to detail, aptitude for learning new things (read, interpret, and translate architectural, structural, MEP, and vendor shop drawings) and must be able to work under pressure.
Physical: Includes sitting, standing, reaching, walking; use of hands, arms, legs, and feet. Must be able to see and hear (with mechanical assistance if necessary) sufficient to understand and comprehend individual one-on-one conversations. Must be able to climb scaffolding, ladder, or other onsite obstacle.
Communication: Must be able to read, write and speak English fluently. Ability to communicate effectively and positively with employees.
Computer: Proficient with MS Office (Word, Excel, Outlook).
