POSITION SUMMARY

 

 

Are you on a career path in construction project management? If so, Southland Industries’ Project Engineer II position is for you! In this role, you will work on an exciting, multi-million dollar commercial MEP career building project.  On this one-of-a-kind project you’ll continue to develop your skills in estimating, scheduling, and the design-build construction process. A successful candidate is excited about working on a project that offers opportunities to lead in challenging situations, innovative problem solving and to work alongside industry and project experts to gain mentorship and networking. What you’ll do:

 

  • Collaborates with management and stakeholders and keeps them informed on all issues affecting project timeline and budget.
  • Responsible for RFI and submittal process and project documentation throughout the project
  • Manages change orders. Ensures they are completed accurately and tracked as required. Expedites material as needed. Estimates the impact of project changes.
  • Provides interpretation of plans and specifications.
  • Assembles complete submittal packages and other required project documentation information.
  • Procures equipment, materials, and services; and participates in selection and hiring of subcontractors.
  • Analyzes and resolves more complex questions and problems as needed.

 

 

What you bring to the table:

 

  • Four-year degree in Mechanical Engineering, Architectural Engineering or Construction Management
  • Minimum 5-7 years' experience
  • In-depth understanding of MEP systems, codes, and standards is fundamental. This includes knowledge of HVAC, electrical systems, plumbing, fire protection, as well a general understanding of system operations.
  • Ability to read mechanical and plumbing plans
  • Proven knowledge and experience in managing RFI submittal processes and execution of coordination with General Contractors and sub-contractors.
  • Strong verbal and written communications skills - Effective communication skills, are vital for interactions with clients, subcontractors, and the project team.
  • Proven knowledge and experience during the pre-construction phase of a substantial project.
