Position Title: Project Engineer I
Reporting Relationship:
Vice President, Engineering and Continual Improvement
Position Purpose
Performs a variety of engineering related tasks to support the project management activities and other department as assigned by the immediate supervisor, and the management.
Essential Functions and Basic Duties
- Conduct engineering projects of small to moderate scope, occasionally involving the coordination of technical activities with other departments within the organization.
- Initiate and participate in continual improvement initiatives and/or project and carry out any tasks as part of the DMAIC process as assigned by the immediate supervisor, the project lead or the management
- Works in conjunction with the planning department in scheduling mold trials or engineering runs as required by a specific project.
- Oversees any trials and/or validations pertaining to the specific project to ensure that all activities are carried out according the predetermined plan and scope.
- Communicate with customer to gather information or to provide update on a specific project as assigned by the immediate supervisor or management.
- Assist in drafting of engineering work instruction, validation protocols and production documents using information provided by the customer.
- Gathering information, documentation and data relevant to a particular engineering project as required by the immediate supervisor or management.
- Assist in various stages of the change control process from initiating to implementing the change.
- Support the quality department in reviewing and providing flow down of customer supplied specifications and requirements.
- Works in conjunction with document control/ quality department in drafting documents and conducting employee training on any engineer related document as assigned by the immediate supervisor or management.
- Provides technical support in solving product quality problems with existing products.
- Participate and support in safety initiatives.
- Participate and support in continuous improvement initiatives.
- Other tasks as assigned by the immediate supervisor or management.
Qualifications
Required Education/certification:
- Bachelor’s degree in manufacturing, project management or equivalent.
Required Experience:
- 0-2 years of experience as project, process, or tooling Engineer In custom manufacturing, with injection molding equipment, processes and tooling experience is preferred.
- Technical knowledge of thermoplastic and/or LSR injection molding is preferred. Experience with automated equipment/machinery is also preferred.
Required Knowledge:
- Practical application of engineering science and technology. This includes applying principles, techniques, procedures, and equipment to the design and production of various goods and services.
- Organization structure, workflow and operating procedures.
- Knowledge of design techniques, tools, and principals involved in production of precision technical plans, blueprints, drawings, and models.
- Knowledge of thermoplastic scientific injection molding process.
- Knowledge of arithmetic, algebra, geometry, calculus, statistics, and their application.
- Strong proficiency of Microsoft Office.
- Strong proficiency of Minitab.

Physical Requirements:
- Involves sitting, standing and/or walking, with frequent ability to exert up to 10 pounds of force to move objects and occasionally exert up to 20 pounds of force to move objects.
- Ability to receive detailed information through oral communication and to make discriminations in sound perceiving their nature.
- Ability to extend hands or arms in any direction. Repetitive motions, physical ability to sustain movements of the fingers, wrists, hands or arms.
- Hearing, ability to receive detailed information through oral communication and to make discriminations in sound.
- Ability to express or exchange information by means of spoken word.
- Must able to see (depth perception, near acuity and far acuity) and see colors.
- Must be able to maneuver safely around moving equipment and/or in congested manufacturing areas.
- Must be able to wear personal protective equipment including safety glasses, ear plugs, steel toed shoes, rubber gloves/boots, etc.
- Exposed to various packaging materials, raw ingredients, cleaning chemicals, lubricants, etc.

Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $65,000.00 - $80,000.00 per year
