Education / Training
Required:
• BS in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent;
• College level training in theory and practical aspects of applied mechanics, heat and mass transfer and its applications.
Preferred:
• Advanced mechanical or aerospace engineering degree;
• Experience design and analysis methods including DFMEA, DFM, GD&T, etc.;
• Experience in Unigraphics/NX & Ansys CAE tools;
• Experience in MATLAB data analysis tools.

Power Assembly Project Engineer
• Create cost effective solutions for design of power assembly components including cylinder heads, liners, pistons, connecting rods and bearings;
• Gather and evaluate mechanical design requirements to develop conceptual solutions;
• Analysis of mechanical components in engine systems;
• Develop, implement and maintain engineering designs;
• Plan and implement experimental tests and/or development programs;
• Support supplier development and prototyping of experimental parts;
• Support engineering evaluation of field failures and drive root cause and corrective action initiatives to solve customer problems.
Qualifications and Experience
Required:
• Deep knowledge of engine and engine support systems including engine core components and its cross interactions;
• Experienced in diesel engine technology;
• Proficient in engineering tools to aid in design and development of engine components;
• 5 or more years' experience in the field of engine component design;
• Ability to perform static/thermal structural simulations;
• Experienced in design validation of mechanical components;
• Experienced in failure analysis of mechanical systems and developing solutions to solve failure mode;
• High level of analytical ability where problems are unusual or difficult with conflicting requirements & constraints;
• Understanding of engineering theory and principles of design;
• Good oral and written communication skills;
• High level of interpersonal skills to work effectively with others;
• Self starter capable of working with minimal supervision;
• Understanding of design / manufacturing processes;
• Flexibility to quickly adapt to changing assignments;
• Ability to travel as required, up to 20%.
Essential and Physical Activities Functions:
• Strength - Position typically involves work in an office environment with occasional visits to an industrial environment. Frequent/constant sitting. Occasional standing and walking. Occasional light to medium-level lifting or carrying (up to 30 pounds);
• Motion - Position regularly requires standard motions associated with working in an office environment. Depending on assigned project, position may occasionally require motions involved in an industrial working environment, including some low to intense levels of pushing, pulling, climbing, balancing, crouching, stooping, kneeling, reaching, grasping;
• Vision/Hearing Requirements - Frequent verbal communications, including both talking and hearing;
• Work Environment - Position is typically located in an office environment with occasional visits to an industrial environment which may include a non-temperature-controlled environment, as well as exposure to noise (85+ decibels), occasional exposure to temperature changes, heavy machinery and other hazardous working conditions requiring the use of PPE. Position may require travel as necessary, both domestic and international;
• Emotional Demands - Very high level of responsibility. Must be able to coordinate diverse aspects of a project. Requires significant interpersonal skills while sustaining very high standards;
• Safety - Position may occasionally require the use of Personal Protective Equipment during visits to industrial areas.
