Become a Project Engineer 1 at Southern California Edison (SCE) and build a better tomorrow. In this role, you will play a critical role as key support for Senior Engineers and Engineer 2s & 3s. You'll support the SCE EE (Energy Efficiency) programs, DR (Demand Response) programs, and BE (Building Electrification) programs to help our Residential & Commercial/Industrial customers save money and energy every day.
SCE's Demand Side Management Quality Assurance/Quality Control (DSM QA/QC) team is a Technology Project Management group responsible for the engineering review and project management of SCE's efforts to support the new technologies which will be used by our customers. The team operates our Technology Test Center Lab in Irwindale CA where we do assessments to prove the value of these new technologies. The group's work is a significant part of getting new energy-saving technologies approved for use by SCE's customers.
The Engineer 1 position is a junior Project Engineering role that supports DSM QA/QC's team by providing technical support to the DSM customer programs.

A day in the life - Get ready to think big, work smart and shine bright!
- Provide quality Project Management support to our SCE customers and DSM programs for various projects for Residential & Commercial facilities, and in SCE's Technology Test Center Laboratory. These projects are important to assess the energy savings performance and value of new technologies for our customer use.
- Support the DR programs by providing engineering reviews of applications for DR projects at customer facilities that shift energy demand away from peak periods.
- Perform other engineering reviews as needed for efforts in other SCE programs, including Wildfire Response, Building Electrification, and Codes & Standards.
- Support the technology assessment operations as needed at our newly renovated Technology Test Center and the recently launched Heat Pump Water Heater Lab.
The essentials
- Engineering experience.
- Ability to read and understand technical documents and reports.
- Ability to communicate technical findings in meetings & presentations.
The preferred
- Bachelor's Degree or higher in Engineering (Mechanical, Electrical, etc.) or related scientific/technical/math degree.
- FE (Fundamentals of Engineering) and/or EIT (Engineering in Training) designation.
- Technical writing experience.
You should know
- This position's work mode is hybrid. The employee will report to an SCE facility for a set number of days with the option to work remotely on the remaining days. Unless otherwise noted, employees are required to reside in the state of California. Further details of this work mode will be discussed at the interview stage. The work mode can be changed based on business needs.
