OFFICE MISSION
: Industry-academia relationships represent enormous opportunities but also present unique challenges. At Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai (“ISMMS”), academia-industry relationships and management of potential financial Conflicts of Interest (“COI”) are guided by rigorous adherence to the principles of transparency and accountability which are intended to safeguard our core missions - the learning environment of our trainees, the scientific integrity of our research, and the clinical care of our patients. The Office of Industry Engagement and Conflicts of Interest (“COI Office”) supports successful academia-industry collaborations through development and implementation of policies, processes, and oversight plans that safeguard Mount Sinai research, education and clinical care.

POSITION SUMMARY:

Reporting to and working closely with the Director and the Dean for Industry Engagement and Conflicts of Interest, the Project Coordinator will have an essential role in evaluating contracts and managing workflow. Although the specific focus of the role is faculty consulting agreements, strong general project management and communication skills are key to success in this position. As a member of the Conflicts of Interest team, the Project Coordinator will interact and collaborate regularly with COI Office colleagues, as well as with faculty and administrative staff throughout the School of Medicine.


Responsibilities

  • Reviewing and evaluating faculty member’s personal contracts/personal consulting agreements;
  • Using database and Excel spreadsheets to input, sort and retrieve information;
  • Maintaining detailed records and documentation of contracts and may be responsible for developing procedures for storing and keeping appropriate documentation;
  • Interacting effectively with faculty and external organizations/businesses to obtain, exchange and communicate information expeditiously;
  • Serving as a resource within the Mount Sinai community for matters related to Conflicts of Interest and faculty engagements (with in-depth knowledge about Mount Sinai policies and procedures re: consulting activities as well as becoming familiar with both institutional and business COI policies);
  • Collaborating with other School administrative groups and external parties on all matters relating to the COI Office;
  • Organizing and preparing committee meeting agendas, background materials, and maintaining detailed meeting minutes;
  • Creating reports and presentations for leadership;
  • Working effectively with other members of the Conflicts of Interest Office team to ensure the accurate and timely disposition of projects;
  • Exercising discretion in review of confidential information; and,
  • Assisting in additional projects and duties as needed.

Qualifications
  • Bachelors degree required, or equivalent education and work experience.
  • 3 years of experience required
  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written;
  • Strong project and task management skills, including technical skills
  • Ability to manage and meet critical deadlines;
  • Strong attention to detail;
  • Proficiency in Excel, Word, PowerPoint, database entry/management;
  • Familiarity with reading contracts a plus
  • Compliance/Conflicts of Interest experience a plus

Compensation

The Mount Sinai Health System (MSHS) provides a salary range to comply with the New York City Law on Salary Transparency in Job Advertisements. The salary range for the role is $62571.36 - $74250 Annually. Actual salaries depend on a variety of factors, including experience, education, and hospital need. The salary range or contractual rate listed does not include bonuses/incentive, differential pay or other forms of compensation or benefits.
