Project Business Accountant
Stable and growing Company with over $1.5 Billion in assets located close to O’Hare airport, has an opening in its Finance department for a Project Business Accountant to provide accounting and finance duties for one of the off-shoots of their business. The company has experienced immense growth over the last decade.
Responsibilities include:
- Effectively communicate with Project Managers, Maintenance, Legal Department, and outside Vendors regarding contract documents, change orders and other contract modifications, approvals, and additional services related to project contracting;
- Entry of projects and management follow-up, reporting and analysis for projects ranging from new HVAC systems to large gut rehabs;
- Assist in preparation of construction loan draws including collection and organization of vendor lien waivers;
- Perform day to day management of financial accounts;
- Collecting and analyzing data about the Company’s operational costs;
- Track costs associated with labor, raw materials and suppliers – prepares reports to evaluate costs of inventory products;
- Forecast costs and profit based on input from sales team and executives;
- Monthly bank reconciliation and monthly financial reporting;
- Ensure transactions are recorded correctly and timely;
- Facilitate timely shipment of products to vendors;
- Establishing costs of business processes such as administration, labor, shipping, etc.;
- Advising executives and upper management on appropriate costings based on financial data;
- Assist with managing Company’s balance sheet and accounting books;
- Assist with customer and vendors when needed;
- Support sales staff with purchase orders, shipping and invoice management;
- Perform day to day management of financial accounts;
- Provide financial assistant to key decision makers in a timely manner to various departments;
- Address customer/vendor queries in a timely and accurate manner;
- Manage vendor purchasing, invoicing and payment;
- Assisting in ad hoc tasks and perform other duties as needed.
Job requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting/Finance/Business;
- 3-5 years’ experience in accounting or finance
- Ability to collaborate and develop relationships with internal and external parties;
- Ability to multi-task and track multiple projects at once;
- Comfortable working with a wide variety of other employees in a variety of circumstances (Project managers, Maintenance managers, finance/accounting staff;
- Zoho software experience a definite plus;
- Strong organizational and communication skills
- Strong accounting, auditing, and analytical skills
- Excellent ability to prioritize work – problem solver and self-starter;
- Proactively identify and implement internal process improvements in order to optimize efficiencies, improve the quality of analysis and deliver effective forecasts;
- Analyze, establish and maintain accounting records;
- 10% travel.
