Job description

Mission

Our mission is to contribute to the overall wellness and development of society, and to provide quality social and educational services to families in our community.

Vision

The Reggio Emilia Montessori Center (REMC) is a learning community committed to supporting the development of young children. Our early childhood center employs a whole child approach to ensure that each student is engaged and challenged in a safe, stimulating, and supportive environment that promotes creativity, critical thinking, and kindness and respect for others. We are passionate about creating access to quality social services and reducing economic inequality in urban areas.

Our Team

The Reggio Emilia Montessori Center (REMC) is in a period of expansion. We currently operate daycare and early childhood centers in Brooklyn, and family and community related programming in the South Bronx. Our work includes NYC DOE 3K and Prek programming, private daycare and preschool services, and NYC ACS contracted Family Enrichment Center and School-Based Early Support preventive program. We are a small organization looking for like-minded individuals to join our team. An ideal team member strongly believes in our core values, and is committed to self-growth and development. Our Core Values are:

  • Patience - We listen first. We're accepting of others and embrace diversity. We persevere through challenging situations while carrying ourselves in a professional manner and with poise. We can wait and remain calm, and know when to wait. We prioritize spending more time for high quality in our work, over quantity.
  • Respect - We respect ourselves, and those with whom we interact. We admire each other's qualities and abilities, and appreciate our differences. We always leave room for others to be heard. We can disagree while acknowledging value in the opinions of others.
  • Kindness - We are aware of the impact of our words and actions. We treat others with kindness. We value a positive work culture, and we're nice or positive-neutral to one another.
  • Accountability - We take full responsibility for understanding our role and responsibilities. We seek clarity and ask questions in an effort to ensure that we're always meeting or exceeding expectations. We hold ourselves to high standards and know that our work outcome is a reflection of our professional input.
  • Dependability - We can be trusted to follow through. We place high value on our word and understand the importance of following through on commitments. We're reliable.
  • Adaptability - We are flexible and we embrace change. We know that opportunities for learning are present at each moment. We value growth and development. We work through challenging situations with optimism and grace.
  • Self-Development - We know that individuals make up our organization and community, and we value our individualism. We support each other's journey through self-development and hold each other accountable for improvement. We seek out opportunities for professional growth.
  • Joy - We spread joy where we can while understanding that happiness in the workplace may look differently for everyone. We can collaborate well with our team, and we contribute to a joyous community. We believe that happiness is important.
