Under the general guidance of the Program Manager for the Statewide Placement Administration, the Welcome Center Supervisor leads a team responsible for the short-term, in-person care of children 0-17 and young adults 18-20 awaiting initial or transitional placement with an out-of-home caregiver.
Knowledge of:
- Federal and State laws/statutes related to child protection
- State and department policies, procedures and standards related to child protection
- Impacts of Adverse Childhood Experiences (ACES), and techniques needed to support and care for individuals that have experienced ACES.
- TDM and CFT meetings and purpose
- Stages of childhood development
- Family centered practice concepts
- Community resources available to support safety, stability and permanency.
- Relevant computer software products such as Microsoft Office
- Principles and practices of work leadership and management.
- Policies and procedures of court system
Skill in:
- Engaging and caring for individuals that have experienced trauma, represent various cultures and have unique complex physical and behavior health needs.
- Written and verbal communication
- Facilitating group discussions and decisions.
- Decision making and conflict resolution
- De-escalation
- Applying the principles of safety science and culture of safety
- Problem identification and solutions
- Creative and critical thinking
Ability to:
- Create and foster a safe work culture

Master's or Bachelor's Degree in social work or closely related field from an accredited college or university AND
One (1) year of DCS Program Specialist experience
- OR-
Four (4) years of combined DCS Trainee/DCS Specialist/OCWI Investigator experience
OR
Three (3) Years of combined DCS Trainee/DCS Specialist/OCWI Investigator experience AND One year of *professional level supervisory experience
*Professional level supervisor experience is defined as being accountable for managing people, deploying resources, administering performance evaluations, reviewing salary and making hire/fire recommendations.
Requires possession of and ability to retain a current, valid state-issued driver license appropriate to the assignment. Employees who drive on state business are subject to driver license record checks, must maintain acceptable driving records and must complete any required driver training (see Arizona Administrative Code R2-10-207.12.).
Employees may be required to use their own transportation as well as maintain valid motor vehicle insurance and current Arizona vehicle registration; however, mileage will be reimbursed.
Must be able to secure and maintain an Arizona Fingerprint Clearance card.
Must be able to secure and maintain clearance from the Guardian Central Registry
