SENIOR ENVIRONMENTAL SCIENTIST (SUPERVISORY) - NATURAL RESOURCES DIVISION / WILDLIFE MANAGEMENT / HEADQUARTERS
The reporting location for this position is Headquarters located at 715 P Street in Sacramento, CA. This position will work under the direction of the Environmental Program Manager I.
Join the Technical Team within the Natural Resources Division of California State Parks in Sacramento to provide technical expertise on WILDLIFE MANAGEMENT issues to preserve and protect the states extraordinary biological diversity and protect most valued natural resources in support of the entire State Park system, including State Vehicular Recreation Areas (SVRA's). This important and challenging position is an exciting opportunity to lead and provide expertise on WILDLIFE MANAGEMENT, provide policy guidance, and support the implementation of projects to meet the Department's goals and objectives. This position is a first level supervisor to technical staff focusing on wildfire management and other technical issues. Direct reports currently include Senior Environmental Scientists, Environmental Scientists, and an Engineering Geologist focused on wildlife, plant, and aquatic resources. This is an exceptional opportunity to work with a dedicated group of natural resource professionals to chart the next advancements in State Parks natural resource management.
The Natural Resources Division is currently working under a hybrid (office/remote) model. Statewide travel may involve up to 20% of the incumbent's time.
Training and Development Assignments may be considered.
This position is designated as telework eligible-remote centered.

Eligibility Information
To be appointed you must satisfy one of the following requirements:

  • Transfer Eligibility - Must have current employment with the State of California in the same classification or in a classification that is comparable. If in a different classification, you must meet the minimum qualifications (see Minimum Qualifications section and associated links above).
  • Reinstatement Eligibility - Previously obtained permanent employment with the State of California in the same classification or in a classification that is comparable. If in a different classification, you must meet the minimum qualifications (see Minimum Qualifications section and associated links above).
