Continental Tide is seeking a motivated Welding/NDTProgram Manager to join our team.
As the Welding / NDT Program Manager you will be Continental Tide's lead technical point of contact for all welding, fabrication and NDT processes. Reporting includes higher levels of management up to and including the Navy's Program Manager.
As a Program Manager your responsibilities shall include but not be limited to the following:
- Support QAM and Mgmt. with oversight and management of Continental Tide welding and NDT programs.
- Train QA Inspectors, Welders, Shipfitter and Pipefitters to review periodic process and compliance to contract work specifications.
- Participate in Quality audits and periodic quality surveillances.
- Provide Quality Assurance oversight to ship repair and AIT initiatives.
- Analysis of quality data using statistical methods to drive process and design improvements.
- Ability to perform evaluation of subcontractors/vendors on the basis of their ability to meet quality assurance requirements.
- Draft and generate welding, brazing and NDT procedures work instructions, forms, PQRs, etc.
- Maintain close working relationship with Continental Tide's NDT Level III to ensure compliance and industrial best practices are adhered to.
- Comparative evaluations of Regional Maintenance processes to validate correct methods are being followed.
- Provide status of overall production progress with completed and inspected welds.
- Anticipate and report challenges to completing welds using the planned `methods, processes, and procedures-this based on personal observation, experience, and skills.
- Develop and provide recommendations for process improvements, based on observations.
- Contribute to Continental Tide and the Navy's success by helping to ensure that fabrication and welding processes are being correctly carried out.
- Assist with Continental Tide's documentation process for field observations and related data keeping.
- Draft reports of conditions found and recommended solutions when known.
- Use experience, personal observation, and knowledge to identify emergent issues that could be non-compliant with specifications or affect the production schedule.
- Maintain a general awareness of structural and piping components in fabrication (both onsite and offsite) and have a working knowledge of events in progress.
- Be aware of overall production processes, particularly relating to fabrication and welding activities to include flame straightening and repair cycles to be able to alert production team leadership of potential issues and to propose solutions when possible. Work closely with NDT Level III and Quality counterparts sharing information and technical support.
Experience and Skills
To be successful in this role, you will have:
- High School Diploma or GED.
- Minimum of five (5) years of experience working with engineering, production, and quality control in a shipyard environment.
- Ability to obtain and maintain Secret DoD clearance post hire.
- NDT Level II qualification is a MUST. NDT Level III qualification is preferred.
- A working knowledge of shipyards and shipbuilding activities.
- Working understanding of fabrication, welding processes, welding equipment and standard methods ship construction.
- Working knowledge of weld inspection methods including VT, MT, PT, RT &UT.
- Working knowledge of NAVSEA Tech Manuals, Publications and MIL-STDS.
- Experience with a variety of software applications on PC to include working knowledge of Excel, Word, Project and PowerPoint.
- Mid-level and above experience in using Microsoft Suite Tools.
- Experience in Navy QA processes and related reporting requirements.
- Ability to read drawings and read/interpret specifications and standards documents.
- Experience working with military programs (preferred).
- Related shipyard experiences in journeyman, management, estimating and progressing.
- Ability to work well with multiple organizations in a high stakes production environment.
- Up to 10% travel may be required for this role.
Additional desired experience and skills:
- Prior fabrication and welding inspection and quality control experience in Navy shipbuilding or repair programs.
- Ability to work well with a variety of personnel from floor-level shipyard production, management, and with senior Navy leadership.
- Organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Strong communication skills.
- Ability to work independently and execute multiple assigned tasks.
- Must be Proficient in Microsoft Project and Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook).
- Willingness to travel is a must.
