We are looking for a Full-Time Program Manager to join the Department of Epidemiology and Disease Control as part of the UTHealth School of Public Health in Houston, TX 77030. This position will lead the sampling, recruitment, consenting, and measurement efforts of schools and study participants in Houston. In this position, you will lead, train, and supervise project staff for program evaluation, including data collection, entry, and management. This position will support the implementation of a cluster-randomized trial to assess the impact of Brighter Bites, a school-based intervention improving access to fresh produce and nutrition education, on obesity and metabolic outcomes among children enrolled across 12 elementary schools and their parents. This position will require travel to study sites in the greater Houston area.

Position Summary:
This position will support the implementation of a cluster-randomized trial to assess the impact of Brighter Bites (BB), a school-based intervention improving access to fresh produce and nutrition education, on obesity and metabolic outcomes among children enrolled across 12 elementary schools serving the Acres Homes community in Houston, Texas and their parents. This five-year project is part of a broader center grant with MD Anderson Cancer Center to prevent obesity-related cancer. This project informs the translation and scaling efforts of BB, a highly successful natural experiment, and also advances dissemination and implementation science by studying and improving upon implementation strategies to increase program reach and impact in persistent poverty areas such as Acres Homes. This position will entail planning, organizing and coordinating project management activities across a variety of areas: study design, communications, intervention implementation, program evaluation, data entry, management and analysis in order to ensure the implementation of projects in a manner that maintains within budget, on-schedule, and of the highest quality.
Position Key Accountabilities:
- Provides project management services to project investigators and staff.
- Coordination and management of project planning, program implementation and evaluation, and strategic planning among various staff and determines proper project delivery methods.
- Participate in planning and developing the intervention content and delivery framework
- Lead sampling, recruitment, consenting and measurement of schools and study participants in Houston.
- Leads, trains, and supervises project staff for program evaluation, including data collection, entry and management.
- Participate in development of the study database and database management protocols
- Ensures project controls, tracking and performance measurement, and reporting and project delivery objectives are met.
- Oversees communications, internally and externally, including community engagement activities.
- Responsible for assisting with the management, implementation, and launch of new products and services. Supports upper management with long term planning, external relationship development, and staff development.
- May coordinate with study partner organizations (including Brighter Bites, MD Anderson Cancer Center, schools) for seamless intervention implementation delivery, process and outcome evaluation.
- May participate in grant proposal, manuscript writing, and submitting for publications.
- May perform project scheduling and budgeting, quality assurance, communication, procurement, and project closeout.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Certification/Skills:
- Fluent in Spanish (written/spoken) is highly preferred.
Minimum Education:
- Bachelor's degree or relevant work experience in lieu of education.
Minimum Experience:
- Five (5) years of applicable experience.
Preferred:
- Two years public health research experience; nutrition and/or school-based research experience preferred
Physical Requirements:
Exerts up to 20 pounds of force occasionally and/or up to 10 pounds frequently and/or a negligible amount constantly to move objects.
