POSITION REPORTS TO: Executive Director, Center for Career & Professional Development

Summary of Position

The Program Manager of Career Communities works directly with students, faculty, alumni, employers, and the Center for Career and Professional Development team to guide and develop a Career Communities program. This individual will partner with campus departments on the development of Career Communities initiatives in order to elevate student engagement for tangible outcomes, while preparing students for meaning lives and supporting alumni experiencing career transitions. Through collaboration with alumni, students, parents, employers, staff, and administration, the Program Manger will build engagement opportunities and program initiatives ensuring the success of Allegheny College students

What you will do in this role:

  • Implement and continually evaluate the Career Communities program for the College that involves alumni, employers, students, parents, faculty, and staff. Report on progress and developments. Works with the Executive Director to leverage resources and services relevant to goals, including career coaching, events management, and employer relations.
  • Ensuring the internal technologies (Handshake and Gator2Gator) are being utilized for student engagement and that the systems are maintained. Educating constituents on how to best use the systems, identifying group clusters to engage students, setting up workshops, events, etc.
  • Promotes Allegheny and the Center through participation in professional organizations and partnerships with faculty and staff, Alumni. Serving on College committees as needed, working closely with the Executive Director for these goals and initiatives, and continually promoting career community learning opportunities to encourage participation. Use various communication channels to raise awareness and generate interest in the career community offerings.
  • Engagement with students that are inclusive of campus-wide programs and will serve on the career coaching team that executes this work. Always being aware of student engagement initiatives, this position will deliver engaging community learning sessions and workshops that fully address the program goals. Upholds standards for career coaching and departmental engagement.
  • Stakeholder Engagement: Inform and engage stakeholders about campus wide program objectives, and project outcomes aimed at ensuring the success of the program and our students. Manage external communications, including interactions with students, families, educators, and other partners. Create and maintain a positive working relationship and ensure all messages align with the College’s mission and values. Build and nurture relationships with key stakeholders, keeping them informed and engaged in the project’s activities and initiatives.
  • Industry Engagement: Collaborate with employers to establish opportunities such as exploratory events, expos and internships for Allegheny College students. Works with the Executive Director and Center colleagues to establish and develop strategic partnerships with alumni, parents, and employers.

YOUR EXPERIENCE

  • Minimum of 3 years relevant professional experience in the field.
  • Bachelor’s Degree required, Master’s Degree preferred.
  • Track record of achieving exceptional results in the Career Services field.
  • Strategic thinking with operational excellence
  • Exceptional ability to influence and build strong relationships
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills with experience in facilitation/presentation

YOUR COMPENSATION

New hires are typically brought into the organization at a salary between the range minimum and the salary range midpoint depending on qualifications, internal equity, and the budgeted amount for the role.

The expected minimum salary range for this position is $55,500 annually.
