Program Logistics Coordinator

Position Overview

Arm-of-the-Sea is seeking an enthusiastic Program Logistics Coordinator to support our events at the Tidewater Center in Saugerties, NY.The Tidewater Center is being developed on the former site of a19th century paper mill; Its mission is to tell the multi-layered stories of the place through an arts and cultural performance center. Plans for the 2023 performance season at the Tidewater Center include a series of 12 “Waterfront Wednesdays” from June through August. These free community events are designed to draw area residents and summer visitors to the Tidewater Center. Activities will include participatory arts projects, Arm-of-the-Sea performances, and presentations by visiting naturalists and historians. In addition, Arm-of-the-Sea will host a 4-night run of its annual Esopus Creek Puppet Suite spectacle at the Tidewater Center in mid-September.

Job Description

Reporting to the Managing Director, the Program Logistics Coordinator will manage, coordinate and execute Program Logistics for all scheduled events held at Tidewater Center. The position is part-time, with the work focused from June through September. The Coordinator must be present at Waterfront Wednesday events from 5-9pm. These events will run June 7th- Aug. 23rd. The Program Logistics Coordinator will be responsible for scheduling and directing community volunteers. These volunteers will be handling parking, collecting donations, selling merchandise, and greeting visitors. The Coordinator must be physically able to set up chairs, tables and other equipment as needed. The Coordinator will be responsible for resolving any issues that arise, and ensuring that events run smoothly. They may also be called upon to distribute rack cards and other promotional materials in the Saugerties area. The ideal Coordinator would be strongly connected to the Saugerties NY area. As an Arm-of-the-Sea team member, you can look forward to interesting and challenging work. This will entail building strong relationships with fellow staff and volunteers, and helping realize a successful and vibrant cultural park, where people of all ages can open their hearts through art and play.

Responsibilities

  • Help recruit, schedule, and oversee volunteers to staff 15-20 public events in 2023 at the Tidewater Center.
  • Set up tables, chairs and audio visual equipment as needed.
  • Resolve issues that may arise, and ensure that events run smoothly.
  • Leverage existing networks and develop new contacts for the benefit of Arm-of-the-Sea.
  • Support mission, priorities and values of Arm-of-the-Sea.
  • Distribute rack cards and other promotional materials in the Saugerties area

Qualifications

  • Demonstrated experience coordinating events
  • Be a self-starter who takes initiative and collaborates well with all levels of staff and volunteers
  • Demonstrated excellence in organizational, managerial, communication, and relationship building skills
  • Physically able to set up tables, chairs and equipment as needed
  • Keen attention to details and adequate computer literacy
  • Ability to travel locally required

Availability

  • Wednesday evenings 5-9pm from June 7 through August 23
  • 5-9pm on Sept. 15-17
  • Start Date June 1st 2023
  • Location: Saugerties NY

Compensation

  • $22.50/hour with an estimated 100 hours of employment in 2023
