Job description

This new Office ofDomestic and Sexual Violence Prevention is to be launched and staffed by a Program Director and a Senior Program Manager, as a City of Boston (COB) Initiative housed within the Division of Violence Prevention (DVP), Boston Public Health Commission.

The establishment of this new Office is a manifestation of the influential impacts of the Dee Kennedy Family Justice Center (FJC), a DVP program, and is pursuant to an FJC strategy review aimed at further preventing Domestic and Sexual Violence in Boston and supporting residents impacted by these harms.

The Program Director and Senior Program Manager will develop this new Office informed, in part, by DPH's Division of Sexual and Domestic Violence Prevention and Services within their Bureau of Community Health and Prevention; the leadership of the FJC Leadership Council (on- and off-site community partner agencies); and via community engagement. This is to be done in alignment with City of Boston's Violence Prevention Strategic Planning efforts, recognizing the intersectionality of various forms of violence (e.g., gun violence, community violence, family violence, etc.)


Responsibilities

  • Recruit and supervise the Senior Program Manager and coordinate activities in support of the development of this new Office.
  • Build and maintain effective working relationships with providers of services in the areas of: domestic violence, sexual assault, child sexual abuse, commercial sexual exploitation/human trafficking, partner abuse.
  • Have an active presence in the community and with community partners in order to collaboratively develop processes and protocols to prevent Domestic and Sexual Violence.
  • Coordinate initiatives closely with other BPHC programs and services.
  • Assess gaps in service delivery, with close attention to underserved/marginalized communities via community engagement and data analysis (data systems to be developed and maintained by Director and Senior Program Manager); uplift findings; facilitate processes in support of directing resources to providers in service to victims and survivors.
  • Develop and execute a strategic work plan in collaboration with programs within Division of Violence Prevention and City and community agencies.
  • participate as a Member of City of Boston's Sexual Violence /Domestic Violence /Intimate Partner Violence Violence Prevention Management Team.
  • Participate as a Member of the FJC Leadership Council
  • - ex officio.
  • Advocate for onsite FJC partners.
  • Document and enhance pathways to services and connections among providers.
  • Collaborate closely with BPHC's Intergovernmental Office on legislative agenda.
  • Provide fiscal oversight of the new Office's budget.
  • Develop and submit new and continuing grant applications.
  • Develop a logic model and evaluations metrics.
  • Assure all program components align with the Racial Justice and Health Equity goals of the Boston Public Commission and broader community.

Minimum Qualifications

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

  • Professional and lived experience will be considered in lieu of degree; Master's degree in relevant field with 5 years or doctoral degree w/ 3 years' of program management experience in Domestic and Sexual Violence intervention and prevention.
  • Demonstrated skills in project management, grants management and program evaluation.
  • Excellent organizational, writing, communication, and presentation skills.
  • Familiarity with data systems and program data reporting.
  • Knowledge of program budgeting.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications.
  • Passionate commitment to health equity and racial/social justice issues.
  • Knowledge of or willingness to learn about the role of public health in addressing racism, the social determinants of health, and inequities in health outcomes as well as strategies to advance racial justice and health equity.

Preferred or Plus

  • Knowledge of Boston and the root causes of violence.
  • Multilingual capacity is highly valued.
