Job Summary:
Serves as an advanced practice nurse providing primary level of care in collaboration with physicians and other members of the health care team to a specific patient population in the outpatient and/or inpatient setting.
Job Duties:
- Provides specialty medical care in a clinical setting under the supervision of licensed physicians working through physician approved protocols.
- Secures and evaluates medical health and developmental history of the patient and provides health maintenance and anticipatory guidance.
- Evaluates patients in a clinic.
- Performs basic physical assessment using observation, inspection, auscultation, palpation, and percussion.
- Distinguishes between normal and abnormal findings obtained by history, physical screening, behavioral assessments, and in collaboration with the designated physician, implements an appropriate management plan.
- Executes physician's orders such treatments, diagnostic and therapeutic procedures as prescribed in accordance with legal, ethical, and institutional standards.
- Assures quality assurance standards are met by following all guidelines of physicians, and clinic.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Education:
Master's of nursing is required; Doctorate of nursing practice is preferred.
Experience:
No experience is required. Experience working with behavioral health and substance use disorders is highly preferred.
Additional Licenses and Certifications:
State licensure as an Advanced Practice Registered Nurse (APRN) and national certification to practice as nurse practitioner from agency approved by Texas Board of Nursing is required.
