This position is foremost responsible for:
Verification of charges (E&M, CPT) and diagnosis selected and entered by Meritus Medical Group practitioners. Coding ICD-10-CM diagnosis, E&M and CPT, on designated account types as appropriate. This includes Provider office visits, Residency Program, Urgent Care, Hospital Observation, Inpatient and surgical encounters for the MMG Practitioners. This position is also responsible to be the coding resource and liaison to their assigned physician practices within Meritus Medical Group. As needed, will provide Provider/Practitioner education. This position is responsible for thorough review of provider documentation, to accurately assign/approve diagnosis and CPT codes/charges. All personnel performing these duties are responsible for complying with the Official Guidelines for Coding and Reporting as well as complying with guidance issued in CPT Assistant. This position requires certification as a medical coder.
Education – Certificate of completion, Medical Coding and Billing Program required.
Experience – Minimum 2 years of experience as a charge poster in an outpatient setting.
Licensure/Certification – Certified Professional Coder through the AAPC or coding certification through an accredited organization (i.e., Practice Management Institute) required.
Knowledge/Skills/Abilities – Good communication skills, ability to manage confidential patient information.
The salary range for this position is: $20 to $32/hour (*based on experience required for position)
