Nature of work:
The employee will use a variety of tools and equipment to maintain grounds via spray applications to turf, trees, ornamentals, and structures. This employee helps determine the care and treatment necessary to maintain grounds in excellent condition. To ensure attractive and orderly landscape, non-routine problems concerning care and treatment of landscape plants and situations are to be referred to a supervisor. This employee serves as a lead worker in providing quality of service to our customers and must be self-motivated in an isolated environment.
Description of Work:
- Apply pesticides to lawns plants, shrubs, and trees with fertilizers, herbicides, and insecticides according to schedule, safety procedures, and label instructions.
- Uses backpack or truck mounted sprayers.
- Spreads fertilizers and ice melt with a broadcast spreader
- Reads and understands appropriate MSDS forms and product labels.
- Performs repetitive lifting of bags up to 50 pounds.
- Maintains vehicle and equipment through cleanliness, safety, and general maintenance.
- Routinely checks and maintains equipment and vehicles under their supervision.
- Inspects the property for potential problems and works with supervisor and customer to resolve issues.
- Utilizes phone application to obtain scheduled route, complete timesheet and tracking of customer job data.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
- Working knowledge of grounds maintenance, and elementary horticultural practices.
- Working knowledge of planting, cultivating, pruning, spraying and trimming requirements of typical flowers, shrubs, and trees.
- Skills for transportation of maintenance equipment, and ability to maneuver vehicles and trailers in difficult circumstances.
- Ability to correctly make minor repairs on equipment and tools under their supervision.
- Ability to follow oral or written instructions, as well as make decisions in difficult situations.
- Ability to coordinate the efforts of a group of employees including equals and challenge them to excellence.
- Ability to train other workers to meet company standards by leading thru example.
- Working knowledge of plants and life cycles.
- Ability to lift 50lbs without assistance and have a full range of mobility in the upper and lower body.
- Employee is expected to properly use personal protective equipment (provided by Blue Ribbon Landscape and Maintenance) to limit exposure to pesticides
- Use Service Autopilot application
Education and Requirements:
- High school education or equivalent
- Valid driver’s license.
- Pesticide applicators license preferred
- Endorsements of Core Competency, OH, & OI preferred
