SalaryBASIC FUNCTION The Production Welding Operator will play a key role in the fabrication of metal components, contributing to the production of high-quality products through proficient welding techniques.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES
• Inspect welding joints and conduct tests to ensure welds meet company standards, national code requirements, and customer job specifications.
• Interpret verbal and written instructions on drawings and/or procedures and apply as they relate to manufacturing a bellow.
• Record inspection and test results and prepare and submit reports to welding engineering personnel.
• Measure dimensions or work pieces to ensure conformance using calipers, micrometers, height gages and templates.
• Read check sheets and prints to determine specifications.
• Maintain accurate data keeping requirements.
• Must be capable of setting up and or running, if necessary, all types of welding, laser, seam welder and induction equipment.
• Responsible for set-up of production and the quality of the parts being produced from that set up.
• Must be able to proficiently disassemble, set-up, adjust and changeover equipment for production necessary to ensure safety, quality and on-time delivery.
• Assist and/or perform minor tool maintenance and repair, to include proper storage and handling.
• Understand, and abide by all plant rules and regulations.
QUALIFICATIONS
• Proven experience as a Welding Operator in a production or manufacturing environment.
• Ability to read and interpret blueprints, welding symbols, and technical drawings.
• Strong attention to detail and commitment to producing high-quality work.
• Excellent hand-eye coordination and manual dexterity.
• Knowledge of safety procedures and practices in a welding environment. EDUCATION REQUIRED High School Diploma or GED Demonstrate proper welding technique and pass welding test.
TOOLS USED
• Wrenches and other hand tools
• Precision measuring instruments
• All welding equipment and tools used in the performance of the job.
EXPERIENCE REQUIRED
• Prior welding experience preferred.
• Pass welding test as necessary.
• Must have, or achieve, all required certifications.
• Work independently and prioritize tasks.
• Must multi-task and give attention to detail.
PHYSICAL SKILL AND EFFORT Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs. on a regular basis. Must be able to work up to 10 hours standing and walking on cement surface and will be required to regularly bend, stretch, stoop, squat, climb ladders and/or stairs and perform work in confined positions. Yeager Eye Exam as applicable.
WORKING CONDITIONS AND HAZARDS Will be exposed to noise, dust, dirt, welding fumes and lubricants and/or oils. Must be able and willing to work with and properly use all necessary and/or required personal protective equipment including, but not limited to, safety glasses, hearing protecting and protective clothing. Must be able to work in temperature ranges generally corresponding with, or greater than the outside ambient temperature.
