Day shift (7am – 7pm); Week 1: Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday; Week 2: Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday

While reporting to the Dept. Manager, you will be responsible for performing tasks necessary to provide high quality, efficient, timely shipment of Sonoco products. Excellent attendance is crucial for the team to achieve success. You must have a proven record of success in a fast-paced environment. You must have the ability to work with various teams and be an effective problem solver. You will take pride in your personal hands-on and analytical abilities, organizational skills and attention to detail.
SUMMARY - PRIMARY FUNCTIONS
- Learn F&K and Uteco Press and how they work
- Work with CSD team to evaluate and document procedures for all aspect of what is required to be an assistant and an operator for each press
- Train all assistants on how to be an assistant
- Train all new operators on how to be an operator
- Establish common procedures to be used by all operators/assistants on press
- Re-train all existing operators/assistants on common procedures
- Help with DTM/5S teams on events on each press
- Establish tool boards for each press.
- Help with weekly DTM events on all presses to audit the procedures
- Participate in review of employees moving up levels for both operators and assistants
- Work with plant management to meet help meet department goals.
This position is located in Hickory, NC
- We prefer you to have experience in an industrial environment (manufacturing or distribution). You will need to be comfortable working in a converting environment where varying temperatures, noise, within established OSHA guidelines
- You will need to have basic math skills and a mechanical aptitude
- Knowledge of F&K and Uteco presses
- Documentation skills
- Good communication skills
