Position Overview: Siemens Mobility Rolling Stock is adding a Passenger Coach 3rdShift Production Supervisor to our growing team. In this exciting role yourprimary responsibility will be to drive the Coach Weld & Assembly teams incontinuous improvement of budget, safety, and schedule adherence through theuse of lean manufacturing principles both on the Coach production floor andduring the production planning phases.

You will lead our diverse and high performing teams intechnical problem solving for topics including standard and non-standard work,tooling, material flow, safety, engineering drawings and BOMs, and processimprovements. What your day will look like: Plan production operations, define workflow, andestablish priorities and production sequences to meet project andinterdepartmental requirements. Meet project targets for safety, quality,schedule, and direct labor hours.

Establish, monitor, and adjust manpower(includes hiring and promoting), applicable equipment planning and work-ordersequencing to meet production demands. Conduct bi-annual employee performance reviewsincluding planning, monitoring, and documenting the training & developmentof manufacturing employees. Ensure production vehicles are ready for inprocess inspections from internal and external customer inspectors in the FinalDetail Production area in preparation for shipping vehicles.

Minimize defect write ups and findings throughthe systematic elimination of root causes while driving solutions to beimplemented in the upstream processes and readiness for vehicles to ship. Reviewing engineering drawings, 3D engineeringmodels using Pro-E or PTC Creo to gain an understanding of manufacturingprocess requirements such as job sequence, workflow, and takt time. Generating and Improving Material Flow Paths andLogistical needs for each Production Work Order both in an MRP system and onthe production floor (Material Handling).

Preparing future production floor layouts tomeet planned takt time and schedule. Setting up stations with proper fixtures,templates (drilling, small components, mounting), tooling, and equipment. Leading manufacturing improvements, complexprocess changes, and technology changes.

Providing critical process control guidance toproduction, maintenance, and quality control to improve the dimensionalaccuracy and overall quality of our products. Coordinating and communicating technicalinformation to and from all levels of the organization including vendors,project managers, production team members, and operations managers. Responsibilities: Commit to Zero Harm @ Siemens for the health andsafety of all employees.

Live and promote an ownership culture whereevery employee takes personal responsibility for the company's success. Drive continuous improvement through leanmanufacturing and 6S principles. Identify the root cause of defects thenimplement measures & initiatives for defect reduction.

Collaborate with other supervisors to plan andexecute production of coaches, and continuously adjust plans as necessary toachieve targets for production quality, schedule and productivity. Track and manage production performance.Identify constraints then develop and implement effective countermeasures. Manage, coach and develop a team of up to 60workers.

Conduct bi-annual employee performance reviews.Plan, monitor and document the training & development of manufacturingemployees. Coordinate with support functions (Quality,Engineering, Scheduling, Procurement) and internal customers to ensure theentire team is aligned & working together to solve problems and meetcommitments. Complete other duties and responsibilities asrequired.

What you will need to be successful: Bachelor's Degree in Industrial Engineering orrelated field Required: 5 years managing industrialoperations, Broad knowledge of manufacturing processes including mechanicalassembly, electrical assembly, welding, crane lifting, material handling 3 years' experience in OEM capital equipmentassembly operations, in a schedule driven, moderate volume and product mix,engineer to order, project environment. We would be impressed if you had: Experience in Siemens Production Systems or equivalent Lean manufacturing. Work experience in the rail business, preferably in light rail, heavy rail, or related production, is needed., One or more certification (or equivalent coursework) in the following fields- Six Sigma Black Belt, lean Certification, OSHA Safety, Certified Manufacturing engineer, Supply Management, EIT, or Professional Engineer License Relevant experience utilizing and implementing lean methods and tools such as 5s, 7 Types of Waste (Muda), root cause analysis and corrective actions, Yamazumi Methods, Kanban value stream Mapping / Process Flow Diagrams, ABC-XYZ Analysis, and Lean Shop Floor Management Model.

Practical experience training others on Lean topics, facilitating lean improvement activities, Kaizen, Root Cause-Corrective Actions, 5s events, etc. Ability to promote Lean in Production, Lean in Quality, and Lean in the Office. The base salary for this position is $96,800- $130,700,based on experience, expertise, education and certification. The salary may behigher or lower depending on your experience and skills.
