Schedule
60 to 90 day training on A-Shift: M-F 7am to 3:30pm.
After training period, transitioning to C-Shift: M-F 11pm to 7:30am
PRINCIPAL PURPOSE OF JOB:
The Production Shift Leader is responsible for leading a production team during a single shift, reporting to the Team Lead. This role involves coordinating the activities of production and operating workers, ensuring the team operates at its full capacity to achieve company KPIs (Key Performance Indicators) such as efficiency, yield, scrap, and labor cost. The Production Shift Leader will utilize their leadership skills to effectively manage the team and drive performance.
MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Operate machinery and fulfill Shift Lead responsibilities as needed throughout the shift
- Coordinate with management and teammates to resolve production, quality, and maintenance issues
- Communicate shift plan and pass down information from other shifts
- Manage team performance, including safety, quality, production targets, and breaks
- Enforce safety regulations and track attendance and PPE compliance
- Inspect materials, products, or equipment for defects or malfunctions
- Recommend or implement measures to motivate employees and improve production process flow
- Conduct employee training on equipment operations, quality, and safety procedures
- Assist in coordinating activities of employees engaged in processing goods
- Read and interpret work orders/drawings, production schedules, and other records to determine production requirements
- Assist in planning work schedules, assignments, and production sequences
- Observe work and monitor quality to ensure operators conform to standards
- Set up and adjust machines and equipment
- Act as communications hub for the team, relaying information between management and production
- Act as the sole contact for the shift to maintenance, management, etc., outside of normal business hours
- Perform other related duties as required and assigned
QUALIFICATIONS
Required
- 2 years of Leadership experience
- Understanding of production methods and techniques
- High School Diploma or GED
- 5+ years of production experience in a high-performance manufacturing or processing environment
- Strong commitment to safety
- Clear and concise communication skills, effective conflict management
- Team player with proven skills
- Lean Manufacturing experience preferred.
- Computer Skills-Excel-MS Word-Outlook
