Essential Functions:
The Production Manager Position is responsible for the proper and effective conduct of the Operations Shift assigned. This includes the Safety of the shift, the Food Safety and Quality of the product produced, hitting the Efficiency and Production targets of the shift, the welfare of the Associates on Shift, Budget Management and management of the headcount. The Production Manager is the senior leader for the shift and as such manages the morale of the team and directs the junior leaders in the conduct of the shift. Further, this role has ancillary responsibility for the Maintenance, Quality and Sanitation Teams when their work intersects with the needs of the Shift.
Specific Responsibilities Include:
- Ensure attainment of Production and Labeling objectives in the areas of Safety, Quality, Efficiency and Cost through:
- Ensuring knowledge of and adherence to all corporate and plant policies and procedures.
- Ensure compliance with Federal, State and local regulations and mandates.
- Ensure facility complies with sanitation and housekeeping programs
- Facilitate the execution of daily productivity, quality and safety goals.
- Understand key daily product and efficiency targets and losses and drive continuous improvement
- Assist employees in identifying root cause and solving material, method and machine issues.
- Utilize maintenance resources and the work order system to ensure safety, quality and efficiency issues are resolved in a timely manner.
- Understand yield and quality requirements and make decisions that improve them.
- Ensure daily efficiency, QC and usage reporting is complete and accurate.
- Perform regular sanitation and housekeeping audits.
- Understand, comply with, and enforce all company policies and standards, and the Collective Bargaining Agreement.
- Understand, comply with, and enforce GMPs and work instructions.
- Create a teamwork environment among peers and team members
- Manage, train and develop team members in production and labeling.
- Promote employee motivation through positive communications and pro-active problem solving.
- Ensure that all lines start and finish on time.
- Schedule employees and manage overtime in accordance with developed standards and CBA.
- Resolve payroll related issues for hourly personnel reporting to this position.
- Work with other departments to achieve company goals and objectives.
- Set yearly goals and objectives for direct reports.
- Other duties and projects as assigned.
Education:
- Bachelor’s degree or associate degree preferred.
Experience and Background:
- 3-5 years’ experience, working in a high-speed, automated food/beverage manufacturing and packaging environment.
- Strong work ethic and a high level of professionalism.
- Excellent verbal and written English skills. Bilingual in Spanish highly preferred.
- Must be self-motivated, results and action oriented with strong problem-solving skills
- Ability to work various shifts
- Union experience a plus.
