Job Details
The Production Manager leads and oversees the daily operations of the production department to ensure high-quality products are produced efficiently and effectively. This is a hands-on role that requires leading by example in all aspects of production.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead daily bread production, focusing on quality, efficiency, and staff satisfaction
- Foster a positive work environment and maintain high team morale
- Create and manage the daily production schedule using Homebase, a scheduling software.
- Create standard operating procedures (SOPs) and train new bakers on all positions
- Work with the owner to control costs through waste reduction, employee productivity, and vendor selection
- Manage ingredient inventory
- Collaborate with other departments, especially packing and administration, to resolve production challenges
- Maintain cleanliness and organization in the production area
- Develop new products or variations with the owner, Pete.
- Work with Pete to maintain equipment
- Purchase miscellaneous supplies like oven mitts and oven peels
- Continuously improve production processes
- Conduct performance evaluations for production staff
Skills and Experience:Baking
- Extensive experience with artisan bread baking
- Knowledge of food safety and sanitation practices.
- Proficiency in formulation using baker's percentages
- Expertise in managing sourdough fermentation
- Adept at problem-solving quality issues in bread production
- Understanding of factors affecting bread quality -from flour types, time/temperature, enzymatic activity, etc.
- Ability to train and lead a team of bakers
- Physical fitness to lift 50 lbs
- Works well in a fast-paced team environment

Compensation and Benefits:

Schedule:
- Four 10-hour shifts per week, Sunday, Monday, Wednesday, Thursday schedule
- Shift start times between 6am-10am
