JOB SUMMARY
The Assembly Manager is responsible for leadership of the boiler assembly process, while maintaining a high level of focus on Efficiency, Safety, Quality and Delivery of Weil-McLain Products.
PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Provide overall leadership for the Assembly department's supervisors, leads and associates.
- Participates as a member of the plant leadership team in determining strategy and direction for plant operations.
- Create and deploy key process indicators for departmental performance and to support the facility's goals and objectives and optimization of the various departments.
- Provide leadership in lean manufacturing deployment to drive cultural transformation.
- Ensure superior quality in the assembly process.
- Coordinate activities among Manufacturing, Engineering, Quality, Supply Chain, and Finance to meet, or exceed quality, cost, and delivery objectives
- Provide direction for training and development of plant associates.
- Performs other responsibilities associated with this position as may be appropriate.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES
- Must possess strong leadership, communication and interpersonal skills.
- Must have excellent written and oral communication skills
- Ability to work with all levels of employees
- Must have Strong computer skills with excellent skills in Microsoft Office applications. Able to develop summary graphs, tables, pivot tables, and other reports using PowerPoint, Excel and Word.
- Experience with JD Edwards preferred
- Experience working with cross functional teams
- Analytical and problem solving skills
- Proven ability to assess situations and develop plans to quickly resolve
- Knowledge of Lean and 6 Sigma principles.
- Ability to define problems, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Problems solving and data analysis skills (8D, 5Y, statistics, etc.).
- Lean manufacturing knowledge and driving cultural transformation with leadership
- Knowledge and experience in the following concepts:
- One-piece flow: balancing, pacing and improved through-put
- Visual factory; KPIs, pacing boards, EI
- Is able to provide strong leadership through teamwork as a motivational leader. Demonstrates teamwork abilities, as well as persistence when dealing with problems.
- Exhibits a strong ability to handle multiple demands with a sense of urgency, drive and energy required
- Works well under stress with the ability to deliver on time required.
EDUCATION &EXPERIENCE
- Bachelor's degree in engineering, business, supply chain or other related field of study required.
- Two years as a Production Assembly Manager level in high-volume environment experience is a plus.
