Legrand has an exciting opportunity for a Product Sustainability Engineerto join the Electrical Wiring Systems Pass and Seymour Team in Syracuse, NY. The Product Sustainability Engineer is responsible for product environmental compliance and product related initiatives that support Legrand’s Corporate and Social Responsibility (CSR) roadmaps for the Wiring Device (WDS) business.
What Will You Do?
- Develop and manage product compliance processes. Conduct analysis in the following categories: RoHs, California Proposition 65, REACH, Conflict Minerals, Living Building Challenge, VOC’s, Organohalogen Flame Retardants, Asbestos Content, Toxic Substances Control Act (TSCA), and PFAS.
- Develop and maintain product transparency documents: PEPs (Product Environmental Profiles) and HPDs (Health Product Declarations).
- Advocate and subject matter expert of the legrand Way Eco Design process. Collaborate with the product development teams to ensure success.
- Collaborate with the product teams to identify and execute on KPI driven projects.
- Respond to customer inquiries related to product environmental compliance.
- Maintain compliance awareness by working as an audit member of LNCA compliance committee, sharing information, findings, and requirements across the WDS business.
- Develop / maintain databases and tools to support monthly, quarterly, and annual compliance reporting.
- Research and provide necessary intelligence for software or tools used in compliance activities. Assure software licenses are updated on an annual basis.
Required Skills
Education:
- BS in a Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Chemical Engineering, or Materials Engineering.
- A degree or a minor in Environmental Science is preferred.
- Specific experience may serve to offset education.
Experience:
- 1-3 years of relevant experience.
- Experience in a manufacturing environment is preferred.
Skills/Knowledge/Abilities:
- Must have broad understanding of Engineering principals, materials, and manufacturing processes. Must demonstrate or obtain an understanding of the compliance technical requirements.
- Working understanding of key sustainability codes and standards (including Prop 65, PEPs and ROHS) along with the ability to work at a granular level towards compliance for individual products.
- Must possess excellent project management skills, including demonstrated ability to develop and manage to a project plan, establish priorities, work to deadlines, and control several projects at various stages of work.
- Strong computer skills, proficient with word processing, spreadsheet and presentation software, e-mail, and meeting management software. Ability to use internet and web based resources efficiently and effectively. Must be proficient with compliance software use and management.
- Requires strong organizational and time management skills, close attention to detail and be able to effectively handle multiple priorities.
- Must have excellent verbal and written communications skills and be able to communicate effectively across all levels of the organization. Must be an effective listener, able to maintain focus extract necessary information and validate understanding of the information.
Salary range: $65,500 - $86,800 + 5% bonus
