Job Description
Purpose of Position:
This role will be responsible for establishing and building out the brand marketing, shopper & trade marketing teams as well as partner with Sales, R&D and Insights to meet shared company goals. The Director of Product Strategy will build up existing associates and recruit best-in-class talent to support business as needed.
This role supports the brand vision, product portfolio management, merchandising presentation along with promotional planning, marketplace, and retail opportunities.
Accountabilities:
- Take ownership of the product roadmap, priorities, and execution, focusing on expansion and deeper consumer engagement. Developing, communicating, and executing: Assortment, Price, Promotions and Visual Merchandising for both the Fresh Del Monte and Mann’s brands.
- Continuously refine and evolve product offerings through the utilization of data and customer feedback. Maintaining robust competitive intelligence/insights and provides/actions recommendations on learnings in collaboration with the Insights team.
- Leverage data and analytics to inform short- and long-term strategies and tactics.
- Develop new innovative ideas and onboard/test new product.
- Collaborate with management on company goals and guide team to support initiatives.
- Lead and guide a team of brand managers by setting goals, providing constructive feedback, and nurturing the skills of team members.
- Play a pivotal role in shaping the vision, strategy, and processes to drive the expansion of the Brand Marketing function across various stages of our growth.
- Foster collaboration with cross-functional internal and external partners, spanning Insights data, design, sales, product management and others to execute initiatives focused on growth and engagement.
- Report on performance highlights weekly with key insights and actions.
Minimum Skills Required:
- 5 years of experience in Marketing.
- Brand Management: Will consider individuals with CPG Foods (e.g. baby food, healthy product portfolio); Produce; Fresh Products (e.g. dairy, poultry); and or nutrition; QSR / Foodservice experience is also a plus. Initially having started a career with Brand Marketing and Innovation with blue-chip companies. Following, start-up experience would be valuable to demonstrate faster-moving, entrepreneurial mindset. Experience in developing a significant innovation / brand with measurable results would be valuable.
- Innovation/NPD: Proven experience developing new brands/products from an “end to end” perspective (e.g. concept to market launch and activation). Understands the importance of using a robust innovation development process, using consumer research, insights, and financial markers to make critical “go/no-go” decisions along the development path.
- Portfolio Management: This individual should also understand portfolios.
- Complete Marketing Toolkit – Experience across the traditional marketing mix, with demonstrated results in Positioning, Brand Management, New Products/Innovation, PR, Advertising and Media, Trade/Customer Marketing, Local Promotion and Events, etc. Digital Marketing experience is a must (e.g. Display, Retargeting, SEO/SEM, Social, Mobile).
- Sales Capabilities / Customer Marketing – Experience collaborating closely with Sales to support new item introductions and contribute to business meetings with retail customers. This includes experience calling-on major accounts (national account level, F/D/MM/Club) (Experience in c-stores, foodservice and QSR’s could also be valuable).
