The Product Owner (PO) is a forward-thinking individual who collaborates with our business teams to understand their desired outcomes and effectively translates and prioritizes these needs within our scrum teams. This pivotal role is responsible for organizing insights and ideas from subject matter experts (SMEs) and aligning them with our long-term strategy and goals across our four product channels. The PO plays a crucial role in ensuring our goals and strategies remain the top priority in our technology development efforts, while also being adaptable to changing priorities. Continuously gathering feedback from end users on IT releases is essential to success in this role.

Responsibilities:
  • Lead cross-departmental discussions to identify and define desired product outcomes.
  • Collaborate with business and technology teams to actively pursue company strategies and goals.
  • Maintain transparent communication to keep stakeholders well-informed of project progress.
  • Set clear product development priorities to align with business objectives.
  • Organize, manage, and prioritize the backlog for all product requirements and ideas.
  • Demonstrate exceptional organizational skills in managing multiple projects and priorities.
  • Efficiently gather and communicate critical information from SMEs and technical teams to stakeholders.
  • Leverage operational business experience to inform decision-making and planning for online auction services and processes.
  • Proactively engage with business stakeholders and scrum teams through effective communication.
  • Skillfully navigate and resolve conflicting ideas and priorities among stakeholders and IT teams.
  • Transform sometimes ambiguous ideas from SMEs into valuable product outcomes.
  • Maintain an open-minded approach to new opinions and ideas while focusing on desired end outcomes.
  • Foster positive discussions and collaboration among team members to drive continuous improvement.
  • Embrace constructive criticism with an open mind and provide honest feedback to others.
  • Continuously gather feedback from IT releases and convey that information to the scrum team.

Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's Degree or relative experience preferred. High school diploma or GED required.
  • At least 2 years of experience in a similar role.
  • Exceptional organizational skills, self-direction, and strong time-management abilities, with the capacity to excel in high-pressure, deadline-driven environments.
  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, with the ability to handle sensitive inquiries and complaints effectively.
  • Advanced understanding and capabilities in planning and decision-making related to the Company's online auction services and processes.
  • Highly proficient in a wide range of common technology applications, including spreadsheet applications (Excel, Google Sheets), word-processing applications (Word, Google Docs), presentation applications (PowerPoint, Google Slides), Tableau, Jira, and other personal productivity tools.
  • Familiarity with agile software development methodologies.
  • Preferred prior experience working with agile scrum teams.
  • Candidates may be requested to complete position specific skills assessments
  • Applicants must be either a U.S. Citizen or eligible to work in the U.S.
  • Requires the ability to satisfactorily complete a background check
Working Settings:
  • Full-time Salaried Exempt, not eligible for overtime
  • Office hours are 8am-5pm, Monday through Friday, additional hours may be required depending on priorities
  • Based in the Purple Wave headquarters in Manhattan, KS
  • Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
  • Must be able to lift up to 15 pounds at times.
  • Must be able to access various departments of a given location.
Compensation:
  • The annual salary varies based on experience and qualifications. Salary paid bi-weekly
  • Monthly Bonus Program - determined by the Company’s monthly revenue result and are paid on a “percent to plan” payout formula. (90% = $300, 100% = $600, 110% = $900, 120% = $1,200)
  • Monthly phone stipend in accordance with the Company’s cell phone policy, currently $120/month
  • Health, Dental, and Vision starting the first of the month after 60 days of employment
  • 401(k) plan with an employer match up to 4% starting the first day of employment
  • Company-paid Life Insurance benefit of $25,000 with options to add more through employee contribution starting the first of the month after 60 days of employment
  • Personal Time Off (PTO) annual amount of 120 hours which is prorated based on the number of days between the 60th day of employment and the end of the calendar year
