About the team: The Innovation team for the Americas region within the commercial vehicles systems (CVS) division of ZF initiates and develops new product concepts to provide a starting definition and proof of concept to the serial development product lines. The Innovation team supports all commercial vehicle product lines but focuses projects in the categories of automation, connectivity, and electrification. As a regional team of a global department, activities require collaboration with other international cross-functional teams to align business cases, research patents, and coordinate prototype test plans. Creativity and the ability to reach concrete results from ambiguous goals are vital skills for the team to take nebulous concepts and refine them into viable product plans.
What you can look forward to as a Product Innovation Engineer:
- Develop new product concepts from ideation to Proof of Concept.
- Propose product improvement opportunities and new product concepts.
- Calculate and present economic value of concepts.
- Specify technical system requirements derived from customer (internal/external)
- Design tests and validation plan to prove success of the concept implementation.
- Create concept documentation to support series production launch by product engineering.
- Internally evangelize/advocate for new concept acceptance.
- Develop and troubleshoot complex vehicle brake systems
- Analyze complex data to extract information and present results
- Serve as a subject matter expert for commercial brake technologies.
Your Profile as a Product Innovation Engineer:
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering required, Master’s degree in Engineering preferred.
- Preferred 3 years of experience in automotive system development.
- Preferred experience with real time embedded safety critical automotive systems using tools such as but not limited to CANalyzer, CANape, or CANoe.
- Preferred ability to develop software using languages such as but not limited to C, Python, Matlab, or Simulink.
- Preferred experience in commercial vehicle brake systems, ADAS, or Product Innovation. Expereince in brake systems is a huge plus.
- Ability to communicate with all levels of organization.
- Self-directed and highly self-motivated to create value by improving transportation safety and efficiency.

The expected base compensation for this role is $84,000 - $127,000 annually. Actual base compensation within the identified range will vary based on factors relevant to the position.
