Position Summary

The Product Development Engineer - Cold Form Steel is responsible for designing, analyzing, and optimizing cold-formed steel structures and components. Your expertise will contribute to the successful development of various products, ensuring the highest standards of quality, efficiency, and safety.

Primary Responsibilities (Essential Duties)

  • Design and analyze cold-formed steel structures, including beams, columns, components and trusses, using appropriate software and engineering principles.
  • Develop innovative solutions to meet project requirements, considering factors such as load capacity, structural stability, and cost-effectiveness.
  • Conduct structural calculations, simulations, and finite element analyses to validate the performance and integrity of cold-formed steel components.
  • Collaborate with team members and other stakeholders to develop design specifications and ensure compliance with relevant codes, standards, and regulations.
  • Prepare detailed engineering drawings, specifications, product prototypes, and technical reports for cold-formed steel structures and components.
  • Test product concepts and/or final models for functionality, as well as their ability to meet the product specifications.
  • Review and evaluate shop drawings, fabrication details, and installation plans to verify adherence to design intent and industry best practices.
  • Provide technical support and guidance to construction teams during the fabrication, assembly, and installation of cold-formed steel systems.
  • Stay updated with advancements in cold-forming technology, industry trends, and emerging best practices to enhance design efficiency and effectiveness.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to optimize project schedules, resolve design conflicts, and ensure timely delivery of high-quality solutions.
  • Complete all required or directed training, certification, licensing, and other learning and development as assigned.
  • Abide by all Federal, State, and local laws; uphold and maintain accountability to all Company policy.
  • All other duties as assigned.

Position Qualifications

Education / Experience (an equivalent combination of education and/or experience)

  • Bachelor's Degree in Civil or Structural Engineering, or closely related field
  • 5+ Years of Experience in Cold Form Steel Engineering or similar industry role

Technical Skills

  • Microsoft Office Suite, Windows, Inventor, SmartSheet, in-depth knowledge of cold-formed steel design principles, industry codes (e.g., AISI, ASCE), and relevant design software (e.g., AutoCAD, STAAD.Pro, RISA)

Licenses / Certifications

Professional Engineer (P.E.) licensure is highly desirable but not required.
